We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stephan Small a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Stephan , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?

By the age of 17 I owned two cell phone kiosk in the tower city mall, Cleveland Ohio.. I moved back to California and opened a silk screen factory with my father, well done designs.. being in a factory environment taught me business, branding, and marketing.. I went on to create brands such as, valley boyz inc, tha neighborhood, tha new Hollywood, gravity wheelz, great west marketing, YodoGroup, and the latest O.P.E.N..
Open is a compound of all my ideas under one roof .. being that OPEN is a marketplace it gives creators the opportunity to create by making resources and Human Resources accessible.. after thy idea is brought to life one’s able to put theirs idea/concept in market.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m a serial entrepreneur who believes in his desires to create and curate.. I’ve always had my own way of doing things.. my own way of presenting things.. business has always been my forte because I saw the power of it at a young age.. business is a product service exchange for a profit.. with that definition in mind business can literally change your reality like it did mine.. through business I’m able to connect and expand with like minded people.. my ability to communicate with individuals from all walk of life and to serve my community is my success

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

No matter what when an agreement is made follow through.. I’ve always practiced doing what I say I’m going to do.. being reliable and dependable is key when creating.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

With all the projects I’ve been apart of.. with all the brands I’ve created I’ve yet hit me break.. what I’ve done was compound all my ideas and strategies and implemented my experiences into my current project which is OPEN.. never stop going, use yesterdays experience for your ideas to come.. never separate yourself from what you do.. remain whole
