We were lucky to catch up with Steffi Olson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Steffi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you manage your own social media?
I do manage my own social media. I don’t have the ability right now to hire on anyone to help me. I dedicate a lot of my time to engaging with my customers.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started this business because I wanted to have something I was passionate about. I’ve always been artistic and creative so I’ve tried different crafts. I’ve always loved fashion and accessories so I thought I could design accessories that I myself would love to wear. I also love that I get to share that with other people. I love that I have found a medium like polymer clay to make lightweight jewelry. Nobody wants their ears to be stretched out from wearing statement jewelry and I’ve found that most are very heavy. With clay, my designs are so lightweight that you can almost forget you’re wearing them. I hope people know how much I appreciate their love and support for my work.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I have been able to build my audience by showing personality and engaging with them. People want to know that there is a real person behind the brand. I have made connections with other designers who also make clay jewelry and we all support one another. A piece of advice I would give is be present, be engaging, and just be you.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I feel like I have been able to grow my customers by going and above and beyond for them. I always respond to messages in a timely manner and I will always do my best to make them happy. A lot of my customers will tell me about all the compliments they receive while wearing my jewelry and direct them to my shop.
