We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stefania Vasconcellos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stefania below.
Stefania, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I love films and I love making films. I truly believe that a movie can change people’s lives. I’m a passionate film director and writer who is deeply interested in exploring human psychology and its impact on society and relationships. My aim as a director is to deliver powerful social messages through an authentic, thought-provoking style. When approaching a new project, I strive to find the most unique and effective way to tell the story while always remaining true to the needs of the narrative. For me, a great film is one that can emotionally connect with its audience and deliver a genuine, honest portrayal of the human experience.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Growing up in a small condo in Brazil, I shared a bedroom with my sister who loved the Latin boy band Menudos and Rob Lowe. My family had eclectic tastes, from my brother’s passion for music, horror films, and Sci-Fi, to my father’s interest in science and philosophy, and my mother’s love for literature and history. Since childhood, my life has been immersed in good stories and the imaginary world.
Despite life’s challenges, this environment instilled in me a deep appreciation for the power of storytelling.
Throughout my journey, I have encountered numerous obstacles and faced adversity, which have shaped me into the person I am today. I am grateful for these experiences as they have made me stronger and have enriched my perspective in countless ways. As a Latin American woman, I embrace ambition, vulnerability, and the pursuit of my dreams without fear.
I’m super proud to have completed my second feature film “Nobody Wants to Be Just Ordinary,” which I co-wrote and directed with my partner, Miguel Muller, under our production company Prisma Films.
The film has been selected for the Portobello Film Festival in London.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think it’s never easy, especially when you move to another country to follow your dreams. Also, it’s never easy to make a movie, right? It requires patience and resilience. Making my film ‘Nobody Wants to Be Just Ordinary’ was really intense. We made it with a tiny budget, shot it on a tight schedule, and had many different locations and thirty actors. But it was truly special in so many ways. I believe I’ve learned a lot, and I’m happy and proud to share the film with the audience. Each film presents a unique challenge, and I believe this is what makes me love making movies.

Any advice for managing a team?
When you have a production company and work in the film industry, you have to know how to work with people; it’s a people’s industry. When I’m working on set, I strive to be at my best, to listen and communicate effectively with everyone, and to practice patience. I also make sure to appreciate everyone, because we don’t make a movie alone. It’s teamwork, and we need everyone focused on the same goal: making a great movie.
