We recently connected with Star Bobatoon and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Star , thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to help women—especially those who’ve been overlooked, underestimated, or silenced—reclaim their stories, own their power, and command every stage they step on, whether it’s in a boardroom, on a platform, or in their personal lives.
This mission matters to me because I’ve lived it. I was an up and coming actress having spent years on stage, on television and in movies. But at the height of my career I chose to dim my light and mute my voice just to make other people comfortable. I spent years in the shadows, second-guessing myself and silencing what I had to say. And I’ve watched too many brilliant women—especially women of color—do the same.
For myself, I went on to have a pretty good life. I got married, had kids, and became an attorney working in Los Angeles. From the outside, everything looked great. But something wasn’t right in my soul. I couldn’t name it—and honestly, I was too afraid to make a move.
Then life made a move on me.
In the span of a year, my father passed away, my job disappeared, and my marriage fell apart. Everything I thought was stable came undone. And in the middle of that darkness, a friend dragged me to a motivational seminar. I didn’t want to go—but I went.
That day, I watched powerful speakers light up the stage… and something stirred in me. I remembered that I used to be on a stage. I remembered the joy. The fire. The freedom.
And that’s when I made a decision:
To reclaim my voice.
To reclaim my self.
To reclaim who I was.
I stopped hiding. I stepped into the light. And I went from playing small in the shadows…to commanding stages across the country—and across the world.
Now, the most fulfilling part of my work is coaching and empowering women go from being unsure—or even ashamed—of their story, to telling it in a way that elevates their self-image and inspires everyone who hears it. This work is more than business. It’s a calling.
I believe that every time you speak, it’s a performance—and every place you speak is a stage. And I help women give the performance they want on the stages they take.
This is what I was put here to do.

Star , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Star Bobatoon, and I empower professionals—especially women—to transform their stories, elevate their voices, and step into leadership with confidence, clarity, and commanding presence. I’m a keynote speaker, storytelling coach, trainer, and founder of multiple programs focused on empowering women to own the stage, own their story, and own their worth.
But before I was doing this work, I was an attorney working in Los Angeles. I had checked all the boxes: marriage, kids, a good job, a “respectable” life. From the outside, everything looked fine. But something wasn’t right in my soul.
And then life flipped the script.
Within a single year, my father died, my job disappeared, and my marriage ended. I found myself sitting in the rubble of everything I had built. And in the midst of that storm, a friend dragged me to a motivational seminar. I wasn’t looking for inspiration—but I got it. Watching those speakers on stage, I felt something I hadn’t felt in years. I remembered that I used to be on stage. I remembered the joy. I remembered me.
That moment changed everything. I made the decision to reclaim my voice, my power, and my purpose. I went from hiding in the shadows to commanding stages across the country and around the world.
That journey became the foundation for everything I do now.
What I Do
I work with professionals—especially women and women of color—who struggle to make their message clear and impactful. Through private coaching, group programs, speaker training, and live events, I help them find the story that sets them apart, own it, and use it to drive connection, influence, and income.
I teach presentation and storytelling skills, help clients develop powerful keynotes, train corporate leaders on executive presence, and create transformational experiences that combine mindset, message, and magnetism. My signature frameworks—like SHINE and AMPLIFY—help my clients go from uncertainty to unshakable confidence, whether they’re speaking on stage, in the boardroom, or on social media.
What Makes My Work Different
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach strategy—I teach soulful strategy. I bring real-life experience as a performer, an attorney, a trainer, a mom, and a woman who’s had to rise from the ashes and rebuild more than once. My work blends high-level technique with deep inner transformation. It’s not just about sounding good—it’s about being real, being ready, and being remembered.
I believe that every time you speak, it’s a performance—and every place you speak is a stage. And I make sure my clients show up with presence, power, and purpose—on every stage they take.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud every time I see a woman go from being ashamed of her story to owning it like a crown. I’m proud every time someone tells me they finally felt seen. And I’m proud that I get to do work that aligns with my soul and leaves a legacy of transformation—not just for my clients, but for everyone their voices touch.
What I Want You to Know
My brand is about empowerment, authenticity, and energy. Whether you’re a speaker, a professional, or an entrepreneur, your story has the power to connect, to lead, and to sell. I’m here to help you tap into that story, amplify your message, and show up in the world like the force you were born to be.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to be willing to take the next step. I’ll walk with you from there.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Early in my career, I was working as a legal secretary in a law firm in downtown L.A. My husband and I had just bought our first home—a tiny one-bedroom fixer-upper. It wasn’t much, but we were young, in love, and had a big dream: to build a second story and fill it with the children we hoped to have one day.
So, we took off the roof to begin construction. And then… it rained. Not just a drizzle—a full-on monsoon. For three days, water poured into our home and completely destroyed it.
To make matters worse, the contractor who caused the damage took no responsibility—and then sued us for the rest of the money. We were devastated, broke, and sleeping on friends’ floors. I felt lost.
I went to the partner at my law firm for help, expecting him to refer me to a lawyer. Instead, he walked me into the law library, handed me a book, and said, “You can handle this yourself.”
At first, I thought he was crazy. I had a two-year degree in photography—no legal training. But his belief in me moved me from fear into action. I studied, prepared… and I won the case.
That victory changed my life. I went to law school, became an attorney, and later worked right alongside the man who first saw more in me than I saw in myself.
That experience taught me that resilience isn’t about knowing all the steps—it’s about being willing to take the next one. And sometimes, that’s all it takes to change your story.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Hands down, the most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been speaking.
Speaking on stages has given me exposure, credibility, and immediate client conversions. Often, I walk off stage with clients ready to work with me on the spot—because they’ve seen me in action, they’ve connected with my message, and they already trust what I bring to the table.
But here’s the deeper truth: speaking doesn’t just grow your audience—it multiplies your opportunities. Every time I speak, I gain more visibility, more invitations to speak again, and more chances to coach high-caliber professionals who want to elevate their presence and performance.
And it’s not just effective for me—it’s transformative for my clients too.
I worked with Pam Sams, a brilliant financial advisor who was already out there speaking—but not closing. Her presentations were packed with facts and figures, but they lacked connection. So we worked together to craft stories that made her message relatable and real. After that, her close rate quadrupled. Four times more clients every time she spoke. All from learning how to shape her content into a compelling, story-driven experience.
Then there’s Betsy Novotny, a distributor in the health and wellness space. She didn’t think she had a story—and she certainly didn’t feel confident on stage. But through my process, we uncovered a story she was proud to tell. And that story helped increase her sales by 35%.
So yes, speaking is my growth strategy—but let me be clear: it’s not just about taking the stage.
It’s about knowing how to own the stage—with presence, clarity, strong content, and powerful connection. When those things come together, the stage becomes more than a platform—it becomes a pipeline.
