We recently connected with Stanley K Harvey and have shared our conversation below.
Stanley K, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
TAG was created through someone else’s idea. I had been back from Atlanta for a few years and still had not figured out what to do with myself. I knew I want to be an entrepreneur, but I wasn’t sure in what field. I created an accountability program with a list of clients where every day they received tasks to complete to improve in an area they wanted to grow in. One day I was talking to one of my clients that lived downtown in a loft. She was explaining that their common areas of the building needed cleaning and they didn’t have anyone to do it. Coincidently the week prior I was sitting around talking with my mom and she said that she wanted to start a cleaning company. I asked what was needed to start and got all of the details. She gave me all of the information, allowed us to take the job, and the rest is history.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Stanley K Harvey and I’m the owner of TAG Quality Assistance. We’re a commercial cleaning company that’s been in business since 2019. We specialize in cleaning and hauling away trash for commercial buildings. We have serviced store fronts, churches, apartment buildings (common areas), office buildings etc. We work with real estate brokers/ agents as well.
We’re very efficient in getting things done. If you are a client of ours, we become part of your team than any other outside company. We’re there when you need us.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
In the beginning TAG clientele came from cold calling and door knocking. Once business grew, we connected with apartment associations and a lot of our new clients came from word of mouth.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2021 we worked with companies in Chesterfield, Maryland Heights, Creve Coeur and all-around the St. Louis and St. Charles area. I started scaling down the business because I started losing help and I was losing interest. At the top of 2022 I was down to one helper and only one client, with no idea where I was headed and what was next for me. I was back at the beginning, so I found myself in a dark place.
Once I had a chance to reflect on the places we have been, opportunities we have been provided and how we had a chance to be a help to the city, I got back to work. I reconnected with previous clients and cold called new clients. I rebuilt TAG to be stronger and more efficient through trial and error.
