We were lucky to catch up with Stan Lieberman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Stan, thanks for joining us today. Do you take vacations? How do you keep things going – any advice for entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away from their business for a short vacation?
Yes, I go on vacation several times a year. My wife and I love to travel and have been to about 70 countries. My interest is to learn about other cultures and to study the history of the country. Whether exploring ancient ruins such as Knossos on Crete or St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna or Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, these represent facinating historical sites showing us what our ancestors have created. It offers us an insight into the past, and thus lessons for us in the present.
Stan, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Ever since I was a young kid, I was interested in science. We grew up in difficult circumstances without much money. Scientists were my heros and becoming one I thought was the way to a better life. Being a bit of a loner, I spent my time reading and studying. I was lucky to win a scholarship so I could attend college. It was a new world to me! I took courses in phyics, chemistry, mathematics and philosophy.
One of my philosophy professors talked me out of majoring in philosophy since he said it was no way to make a living. So I majored in physics and went on to obtain a master’s degree in mathematics. The big news at that time was Sputnik and I decided that I wanted to work in aerospace – it was the most exciting work that I could think of!
So I made my career as an aerospace engineer working on designing control systems for space vehicles – including the Hubble Telescope.
When I finally left aerospace, it was at a time when the Internet was growing and websites had just started being important to business. And I thought it would be exciting to start creating websites for businesses. I have been doing this now for over 20 years. It is challenging, always changing, and always full of new technology to learn. I love it!
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
When we create a website for a client, we spend time working closely with the client to learn about their business and what their goals are with the website. All the websites we create are customized to the client’s business, whether we use a WordPress platform or a HTML/CSS platform.
We set up the website with SEO so it can be easily found on a search engine.
We work with the client to update and improve the website so that it will achieve its purpose – whether obtaining new customers and offering important information to visitors, etc.
All our clients are very satisfied with our work and thus they recommend friends and colleagues to us. Thus we always have new websites to create.

My business partner is Kate Brand. She is the most talented graphic artist I have ever worked with.
One of my clients wanted a new design for his website. He asked me to meet him at his home. When I arrived, he introduced me to his wife who told me about her sister who was Kate. She suggested that Kate and I work together to come up with a new design. We started working together and have worked together ever since. It has been a great relationship over the last 12 years.
