We recently connected with Stacye Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stacye thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
With the world moving so quickly, and brands being created as fast as popcorn… I take pride in knowing that for myself and my business, remaining true to taking time to create strong and impactful design is always our mission. We not only take time to create the most unique and innovative visuals/products, but we also take the time to educate our clients on the entire process. I still believe that it is important to provide quality over quantity. Being able to also help my clients understand the foundation of their branding and how things cohesively work allows the brands we work with to sustain and also facilitate a true alignment with their products/designs/ and their customers. Simple things such as understanding the backend of an ecommerce website, or how to utilize the right copy to continue their brand’s story or personality as the brand grows is vital to a business. Long story short, it is more than just a design for me when hired, it’s how do we create the right branding and brand strategies that creates the momentum for the brand’s future growth as well. And most importantly making sure each client understands their specific process.

Stacye, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Stacye J. I am a talented Branding Innovator, Creative Director, Design Mogul, Fine Artist, Content Creator, Children’s Book Illustrator, Mentor, and Businesswoman who provides simplistic, sophisticated visual branding. I’m the Minimalist Graphic Designer who is well-versed in taking the simple approach of a good idea, and assisting my clients with turning that into a living, breathing entity from concept to execution. Known to many as the “Branding Genius” my business motto goes hand in hand with my experience: #GreatBrandsGreatDesigns! I am the proud owner of Simply Creative Designing Inc. — We are a creative branding studio of inspiration and culture. We collaborate with artisans and forward-thinkers; using intentional design and strategy to innovate people, communities, and the planet! We deliver the best designs to help brands bridge the gap between visual communication and creative thinking. It’s just that simple.
Early on, achieving my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, and another in Fine Arts Drawing from the University of Florida, I have acquired a keen skillset for captivating the eye through design. I am continuously challenging the norm through my love for creativity! I have always had an advantage in Graphic Design because of my exceptional drawing skills. I’ve aligned my passion for art and mixed it with my purpose for giving and helping others through my business. Simply Creative Designing was created not long after receiving my college degree, and working for one of the fastest growing design agencies in South Florida. In the new era of Instagram marketing, I observed a problem: most startup companies and emerging entrepreneurs were not gaining the exposure they desired because of their lack of high-quality visuals for their brand. I resigned from corporate design nearly two months after launching my own business. The demand was so great for good design, and I was willing and excited to share my design/branding expertise with my clients.
For me, it’s not just about creating a visual; it’s about creating the right visual for the right need. Through my business and talent, I have collaborated with many aspiring new brands/entrepreneurs with their brand identity and development. And with growth Simply Creative Designing Inc. is well known also for its celebrity collaborations with brands such as Yandy Harris Smith, Cyn Santana, Future Hendricks, Milano Di Rouge, the NFL & NBA, Fossil, Budweiser, and more. However my greatest accomplishments are through helping start up brands discover the best branding visuals and solutions to success. My design knowledge and aesthetic is helping me pave my way in the graphic design industry, and also creating new layers for me as a visual artist. It’s a beautiful feeling to wake each day helping others reach their goals in their respective industries as well.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I am known for my keen eye in design by many. It’s the clean, crispy, polished visuals that attract most business or people to my business with the desire to collaborate. But along with the perception of perfection comes the need to want to be in control. Assurity that everything is as it should be. One lesson I had to unlearn over time is the need to delegate. Over time you can burn yourself out without help. I remember having so many inquiries for business and wanting everything to be touched by my own hands. I knew that I would always execute to my best ability and never wanted the lack of commitment from someone else to cause my brand to not hold up to its standards. But the first project I hired on a team member to assist me with and shared my process was a success. It was such a relief and it also allowed me major growth. My team member had an easier way of getting the job done so it turned out to be a win win all across the board. It matrued my leadership qualities and also organized my systems used for everyday operation. It’s different when the blueprint has to be understood by others to follow efficiently. This experience allowed me to also feel comfortable with trusting in others and also allowed my company to grow its project intake amount. Like the good saying goes…two heads are better than one.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I can’t stress this one enough! Lol. But “Good design takes time.” Most non-creative people have a vision and most often are not knowledgeable of the time it may take to bring that vision to life. This is another reason why educating my clients on their unique process is a must. Once they understand what it takes to create things most people will really appreciate you as a creative person. The best brands that stand the test of time are always associated with quality.
