Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy Velez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
IMAGE Studios is a community of suite owners in the beauty, health, wellness, and other artistic spaces. We provide a space for an individual business owner to have their own business, without the need for high finances of land, building, and associated build out fees specific to their business. Business Owners can start working immediately, without the high up-front costs.
At IMAGE, we work hard to diversify our spaces. We encourage all artists to be a part of our vibrant community. We have tattoo artists, permanent makeup artists, hair and skin professionals, medical spa pros, and other health businesses. This diversification is a newer concept to the traditional hair professionals in our space, and this creates a balanced community of referrals and creativity.
Stacy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
IMAGE Studios is a community of individuals in the creative fields of health, beauty, and wellness. Personally, I got into this business to support other small business owners, and facilitate a more diverse grouping of professionals. We encourage our Pros with business support, help advertise for their businesses, create education classes, provide LOVE events to facilitate community and additional engagement, and we provide a team that they can come to for help. It is important to us that potential pros in our spaces speak to us, and understand who we are and what we do, and why IMAGE is the best choice for their venture.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
We believe that how you show up for others, treat others, and run your own business, is important to Pros who may want to be in your space. We value our people, and we are frequently visible in our spaces – we are available, and we care about them as people. Not only do we provide assistance with moving in, helping with handywork tasks, and set up support, we offer free loyalty weeks in our suites – the longer you stay with us, the more we reward you! People always make the difference, but some free time for vacations does not hurt either!
Have you ever had to pivot?
Given the breadth of the IMAGE Studios endeavors that we have created in Colorado – in Thornton, Denver, and Lafayette, it may be assumed that we are not present, have not faced hardship to get here, and possibly are not facing some hard life pivots while we ARE here. We started construction right before the pandemic, and have had many difficult moments with construction costs rising over 75%, rent rates going even higher, and timelines being completely destroyed. We never really discuss these things – we simply push forward the best we can. Our family has made major adjustments, and some of them put our family at risk. We say this only to show that we are people who believe in the path, and will keep supporting others doing the same thing. Small business creation is a dream that everyone should be able to fulfill, and we hope to be a part of their story.
