We were lucky to catch up with Stacy Gannon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stacy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
Since growing up in a large family in Baltimore, I have always been drawn to the glitz and glamour of old Hollywood fashion and makeup. The pages of Vogue, Fashion TV, and the behind scenes makeup magic, all continued to drive my passion and desire to one day become a part of this industry. I have been influenced by many, one being the late great Kevyn Aucion, his passion, kind soul and love for beauty for all ages, captivated me from the very beginning. To this day, his book “Making Faces” has been in a sense a makeup bible for me. Some other giants of the industry who have continued to fuel my love of makeup, Pat McGrath, James Vincent, Danessa Myricks, and Yolanda Fredrick. I was lucky enough to meet James Vincent, Danessa Myricks and Yolanda Fredrick, a few years ago at the Orlando Makeup Show. Having the opportunity to attend their workshops, where they shared their knowledge, techniques and love of makeup is something I will never forget.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
Early on, I found a love for performing arts and theatre. I had opportunities to perform on stage which also ignited my curiosity to where I feel much of the magic starts, behind the scenes. Theatre became very influential and a pivotal part in my my makeup journey. I decided to continue to nurture this passion and am very thankful to have the support of family and friends. As a traveling makeup artist and licensed esthetician, I am forever grateful for the opportunities that have come my way. I have had the privilege to do makeup on set for various films/series/pilots and have been nominated and won best makeup artist at multiple film festivals. In addition, I am very proud of my work behind the scenes doing makeup for a multitude of celebrity fan convention meet and greets and panel appearances. To include Megacon, Walker Stalker, Bubba Fest and Ranger Stop. Some moments that are near and dear to my heart of not only doing the makeup for some icons of film/tv but also experiencing that human connection. To name a few, some of my favorite moments were working with the late great Burt Reynolds, Catherine Tate, Paul Reubens and John Stamos. I love breaking the mold on some of societies so called “expectations” of beauty. I enjoy working with clients of all ages, ethnicities, and communities. I am a huge ally for equal rights and have participated in various events, pageants and fundraisers for the LGBTQ+ community. To include supporting the OnePulse Foundation doing makeup for the “Straight Men Real Makeup” MCA (Makeup and Creative Arts) fundraiser two years in a row, which I was lucky enough to win Best Makeup Artist in 2021.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In sharing my continuing journey, I feel with each challenge or struggle I have been through in my life, it has given me the strength to push harder. Losing my father at the age of 15 yrs old pushed me to take chances and know that each day is a chance to make a difference. Every day I strive to look for opportunities and challenges to grow, hone my craft and drive my passion.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I have been lucky to have had many significant impactful moments in my career. Seeing first hand how influential even one person can be by simply believing in you, can open the doors to limitless possibilities. I have so many to be thankful for, one in particular sticks out who has always supported me from the very beginning of my professional journey. I’d like to take this moment to personally thank Beth Wheatley co-owner of Studio Lot Orlando. She has had a huge impact on my career and for that I will be forever grateful. I am excited about what the future holds. I look forward to making a difference where I can and continue to be an advocate for love acceptance.
