We recently connected with Stacy Fayling and have shared our conversation below.
Stacy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
For me, the years between 17-28 were the ones that broke me down and brought me to a crossroads where I needed to decide if I was going to stay broken or head down the path of healing and self-love. With a young daughter to care for and a version of me I no longer recognized, it was time for me to step away from my comfort zone; a toxic, abusive, decade long relationship.
After putting myself through nursing school and practically raising my daughter as a single mom, I did the hardest and bravest thing I had ever done and I was so scared! This had been a scenario I played over and over in my head, planned out the details, and talked to my friends about it for years, but I never thought I’d actually make it out. And I certainly didn’t think it was going to come with a happy ending.
It was not always fun or easy, I didn’t always have the answers, and I wondered for a long time what and who I was meant to be on the other side of this life that was all too familiar. But slowly, I started to put the pieces of me back together.
I picked up self-development books, one after the other, I started following influencers in the self-help space, I met other women who had gone through similar situations, and I started pouring all of me out on paper, filling notebook after notebook. Ideas and inspiration soon started to follow, and slowly, I started to see the woman I had lost over a decade ago. Except, she didn’t look exactly as I had remembered.
I feel that we all shed our skin and go through the transformation of becoming new versions of ourselves over and over throughout life. This new version of me, while unfamiliar, felt right. Once I started to learn to embrace my new reflection, I continued to discover more of me. I started to recognize what I was meant for, where it was I belonged, and who I was supposed to be surrounded by; and it just keeps getting clearer.
In all of this, the beautiful and the hard, I found my soulmate, became a mom all over again, dove into entrepreneurship, started a podcast, and helped hundreds of women navigate their own healing journey. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows, and life can be pretty life-y at times, but if you’re feeling lost, let my story be proof that there truly is a way through the darkness.
Best risk(s) I’ve ever taken because it all brought me right here, back home, to myself- exactly where I belong!
Stacy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Please review previous question for some of the details related to my background and journey into where I am today.
I stand by the side of women who have faced adversity.
She Wakes Up is a space for women who are on a self-development path and eager to feel happier, healthier, and more healed through the process of becoming their most beautiful work in progress.
Through coaching and mentorship, I offer my clients a clear pathway to rediscover their own self-worth and reconnect with their inner truth.
Using a blend of practical solutions, intuitive guidance, and life experience, I provide women with support, strength, and direction to ensure that they never feel alone on their journey back home to the happiest and healthiest versions of themselves.
I do this through my 2 different offers/ways to work with me:
The first is a local meet-up group for those wanting to do the work in person. Our Local Clubhouse is open to anyone living in the Southwest Michigan area.
Our mission is to hold space for each woman to freely discuss successes, barriers, frustrations, goals, etc that is guiding her self-development and healing path in this season.
Together, we will foster connection, conversation, reflection, accountability, and growth in a container that is filled with love, acceptance, and grace for one another.
The second way to work with me is through 1:1 coaching with the option for an 8 week or 1/2 day intensive format.
This is where we really dig into the nitty-gritty self-transformation!
Sometimes we just need to find someone who can hear and see us first before we can recognize it in ourselves. No matter what season of life my clients are in or what battles they are currently fighting, I ensure that they aren’t going through it alone.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Please see my previous answers for my overall journey.
Another story to add would be hitting the road blocks of life while trying to build a business while wearing all the hats; nurse, mom, wife, daughter, etc.
Through my self-development journey I’ve learned to look through a whole new lens; failure is just the universes way of saying try again. Or, in my case it was a sign that maybe what I was trying to pursue at the time was just a not right now. No matter what happens, I’ve just learned to trust my intuition and experiences; the good and the bad; it’s all a part of my story.
I believe that everything that happens to us is done so for a reason, and that we can’t get to the other side of the mountain if we stand at the bottom feeling defeated before we even try.
I’ve learned through my journey that I am capable, strong, and worthy of what it is i’m after. My foundation has been built on resiliency, I trust the process, I will keep making progress, and rather than falling, I will allow myself to “fail” forward.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I would consider myself to be very multi-passionate. I used to think it was a bad thing, but as I have come to discover more of who I am, I realize what a gift it is.
Because of that, I have thrown a lot of spaghetti at the wall hoping it would eventually stick. I’ve tried building off of other people’s ideas or trends because it seemed to work for others, but rarely worked for me.
I began to dig even deeper to understand myself and what MY thing was. I started to do less following of others and instead turned inward to discover the way I was supposed to be showing up.
This not only was beneficial to my business but also in my personal life. I’ve gone between full-time nursing jobs to being a stay at home mom, back to work part time and dabbling in entrepreneurship, back to work full-time, quitting my 9-5 and going head first into entrepreneurship, and back again. While this might sound a little crazy to some, it was exactly what I needed to do at the time, for me and the season of life that I was enduring.
I found a way to make both nursing and entrepreneurship work harmoniously, and not because of some fad or someone I follow on IG, but because it’s right for me and those who are meant to work with me.
I now find that I attract the right people, at the right place, at the right time from being authentic; which took time and whole heck of a lot of pivoting!
