Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacy D’Aguiar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always been an artist since I was a kid. I could always draw really well. I’ve been given a magical gift. I was in AP Art in high school, and knew then, that I would be an artist in some capacity as a career. I was a senior and about to go to college. I had also won a couple art scholarships that year which really drove the message home that I was being recognized for my artistic talents.

Stacy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’ve always been a talented artist, and I’ve always been in the creative industry as a graphic designer, illustrator, photo editor, costume artist, and toy designer. But when I was laid off from my graphic design job in 2010, I decided to become an artist full time. My mentor, Liz Jardine shared all of her art rep contacts with me at that time, and I’ve been in business ever since.
Moving easily between surrealism and abstraction in a realm I call “unreal art,” I seek above all to create works that are spiritually up-lifting. Every piece is infused with Reiki energy (a universal healing technique) and Sacred Geometry symbols, which elevates each creation energetically, and fills the room with positivity, peace, and tranquility. I offer you a journey through the garden of my Visions and allow the gift of healing to revive the sacred breath of Oneness.
I create dreamy visual treats using a delightfully vibrant palette and intriguing subject matter, to compose a feast for the eyes and mind. I’m a full-time artist spending most of my days in my studio in San Diego creating paintings for galleries, collections and exhibits all over the country.
I’ve made my living painting abstracts, landscapes and surrealism since 2010, collaborating with designers, art reps and galleries in Orange County, Laguna Beach, Santa Fe, Charleston, and LA, to name a few. My work has been shown at SCOPE Art Miami, the Laguna Art Museum, Art San Diego, and Art Santa Fe, and published in PoetsArtists, California Homes Magazine, Luxe Magazine, Pacific Magazine, and Nug Magazine. I’ve collaborated with Clive Barker and collected by Dr. Phil and Mia Michaels.
I sell originals and prints, and available for commissions. I welcome anyone to my studio to view my work in person.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of creating my art, is when people really connect with it and the symbolism behind it. I want to create that spark inside the viewer, like a spiritual whisper invoking a feeling of oneness with higher consciousness and all of the creatures in the Universe. I’m so honored to hear how my work is healing for people, and how much it touches something so deep in them. This makes my heart explode, and know that I’m here to do this work.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Embracing the uncertainty. Becoming comfortable with knowing that you will make the money you need to make every month, and having faith that it will come.
