We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Stacy Braga a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Stacy , thanks for joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
While sometimes I wish I was further in my business, I’m glad I came into it with the experience I did.
Spending almost a decade in classrooms, earning my leadership degree, and building hundreds of relationships with families in my community — shaped the way I run my business.
Looking back, I’d start at the same time. I value my experience as a teacher and it makes me a better, more empathetic business owner.

Stacy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
To be honest, I wasn’t planning on starting a business when I quit teaching. I found an ad for a course that said copywriting is a great career for former teachers. That ad changed my life. I didn’t even know what copywriting was before then.
I kept following the path that felt interesting and somehow ended up with a business. It surprised me how much my skills easily transferred to running a business.
Now I help online brands make more money and work with dream clients using sales psychology to attract perfect-fit clients . I offer done-for-you copy in the Studio and done-with-you inside the Copy Classroom Membership.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for me is build relationships.
I build close relationships with my clients so that I can best support them in meeting their goals. Most of my clients stick around for a long time because they value the support they get. This also helps me get a lot of referrals.
The other piece is networking and building my network both online and in-person. Getting to know who is in my community, consistently getting in front of new people, collaborating with other entrepreneurs. All of these little things add up over time and help me grow my client base.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to unlearn was that hard work is the only way to succeed.
Being raised by immigrant parents, working hard was the expectation. Following all the rules, doing your best every single time, there wasn’t room for failure.
I worked through college, through my career as a teacher, and kept working nonstop until I burnt out.
Coming into business it was hard to unlearn that mindset because there’s always so much to do.
But resting is just as important for your creativity and sanity. It feels counterproductive to rest but it actually helps you accomplish more.
