We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stacilyn Bellemare. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stacilyn below.
Alright, Stacilyn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
I knew from the time I was very young, the love and fascination I had for newborns grew as I got older. It all started when I was 14 years old, I started babysitting and that transitioned into me becoming a nanny at 16 years old. When I went to college at 22, I declared a dual major in Biology and Marine Science with a minor in Early Childhood Development and Chemistry. When I graduated in 2006, the same year I gave birth to my son, I realized my life had changed forever. He was born with special needs and all of my plans went to the side so I could care for him. I had to make sure he was able to go to all of his therapy appointments, so I went back to my first love, childcare, and I started an in-home daycare to be able to provide the socialization he needed as well. My son did not sleep through the night for the first 10 years of his life, this taught me patience and how to be up all night. After he started school, I realized that I truly was a night owl and enjoyed being up all night. I saw that there was a need for overnight newborn care in my area and my career was born. I started taking classes for Postpartum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, Sleep Consulting, and so much more.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Full Spectrum Doula, Newborn Care Specialist, Sleep Consultant with an emergency medical background that loves to stay up all night long caring for your newborn(s). I have over 30 years of experience and have taken/updated my credentials yearly to keep up with the latest and newest evidence-based data. I have many skills, but my specialty is coming to your home on night one after giving birth to your baby and helping you nightly in your fourth trimester. I have a program that I have developed that will help your baby learn to sleep naturally through the night without the Cry It Out method. I have newborns as young as two weeks old sleeping 5-7 hour chunks while growing, thriving and gaining weight in a healthy way. Some families will hire me to do a 24/7 for two weeks, and at the end their babies are consistently sleeping 6+ hours. I also assist families with older children who need sleep shaping.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Everyone who has worked with me can tell you I truly love what I do, and it shows through my care. I hear often at my assignments “when I pass my baby to you, I know you will treat them as your own…and I just do not worry when they are in your care, Stacilyn.” I am proud of my job and do not even view it as work. I absolutely love what I do, and am so excited to go to work every night. I love to teach parents and see their faces light up when they are successful in their accomplishments with raising a newborn, because we all know how hard it can be.
How’d you meet your business partner?
My Teammate, Becky Lange:
I breastfed my son for 2.5 years and during that time it was not a protected right to breastfeed in public. You could be asked to leave, put a blanket over baby, cover up, etc….I personally went to a quite a few nurse-ins to stand up for breastfeeding in public rights, and that is how I met my teammate. She was the only one to stand with me at an event for breastfeeding in public….and we have been friends and worked together ever since!
