We were lucky to catch up with Stacie Weston recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stacie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
My business first started when Covid struck in 2020. I was working in the hospitality industry & my job shut down unexpectedly. Being stuck in the house during quarantine, I found an interest in nail art & acrylic nail enhancements. Money was running low and I spent the last couple of hundred dollars I had to my name, to invest in nail supplies to teach myself the craft. At the time, I knew nothing about nails. I spent many nights doing research & practicing my craft. Leaning new techniques & art styles.
In that moment, I never thought my business would have taken off as quickly as it did. Fast forward to January 2021, I accepted my first job as a Nail Technician at The Glam Stop in Brunswick, GA. Since then, my clientele has grown tremendously. I have clients that travel from surrounding cities just to sit in my chair.
Taking that risk in 2020 changed my life forever. I always tell people “Go For It”.. No matter what it is, if you put your mind to it, you can attain it. And it could possibly change your life too!
Stacie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My Name is Stacie Weston. I am a self-taught & (now) certified nail technician located in Brunswick, GA.
I specialize in acrylic nail enhancements & nail art. My professional technique & attention to detail allow me to create one-of-a-kind nails that bring customers back time & time again!
My business was built off taking risks, & that’s what I’m most proud of.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My main goal on my creative journey is to inspire other young women to chase their dreams whole-heartedly. Because nothing is unattainable.
I became a teenage mother at the age of 17. I struggled to finish school afterwards. I’m covered in tattoos & I often have eccentric hairstyles…. I’m not fit to everyone’s liking .. I have faced many obstacles during my journey, but as long as you work hard & stay head-strong, you WILL get to where you want to be.
you CAN be successful.. no matter how you look or what path you take to get there.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media has played a huge role in building my brand. I encourage everyone to take it seriously!
Post as much content as you can daily! Don’t worry about overflowing newsfeeds because there is no such thing as “too much” promotion.
Put yourself out there. And stay up-to-date on current trends. I have gained a large portion of my clientele from Facebook, Instagram, & Tiktok!
