We recently connected with Stacey Prescott and have shared our conversation below.
Stacey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is based on a life of constantly being told I’m not enough and I have to be different to my authenticity to be of value. I spent a good portion of my life chasing everyone else’s concepts of success and straying further and further from my authenticity; where my passion and mission meet. It wasn’t until I learned that my worth is intrinsic to the fact that I exist and cannot in anyway be diminished that I found the courage to step out in faith and watch my life and career change COMPLETELY.
My mission and businesses are two sides of the same coin.
In my salon I aim to empower others to understand and love their hair in anyway they choose to wear it with services built around current published science instead of the pseudoscience and misinformation rampant in the hair industry.
In my education business, my mission is to empower stylists to rise above the incomplete and decades outdated curriculum they are taught in basic cosmetology schooling as well as the misinformation perpetuated by many of the larger hair companies by offering them education grounded in the same published science and current market research I use to run my salon.

Stacey, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Stacey Solum Prescott, and I’m a Holistic Growth Coach, hairstylist, and educator specializing in natural curls, mindset, and high performance. I’ve always known that working with hair and helping people find confidence through their natural beauty was my calling. But my journey hasn’t been straightforward. Despite knowing in my heart that this was my path, I initially felt unworthy and ran from it, even turning to other careers like law enforcement and the military. Each experience taught me valuable lessons, eventually guiding me back to what I believe is my true purpose, as God intended.
In my salon, Beautifully You Salon, I work with clients who want to understand and embrace their natural curls. I’m deeply invested in science-backed methods and advanced education. I’m not just cutting or styling; I’m educating clients about the unique characteristics of their hair, empowering them with knowledge and techniques they can carry into their daily lives. My services are highly personalized, catering to each individual’s hair needs, and focused on holistic care that treats the hair, mind, and spirit. My clients come to me not only for a transformation of their curls but also for the transformative experience of learning to love and understand their hair on a deeper level.
Through BYS Education, my education platform for licensed stylists, I bring that same holistic approach to stylists who want to advance their careers and learn about the art and science of natural curls. Many stylists are nervous about working with textured hair, and misinformation in the industry doesn’t help. I’m here to change that. I teach from the latest scientific findings, debunking myths and helping stylists gain confidence so they can elevate their skills and stand out in their own careers. My courses are rooted in published science, focusing on the natural pH of hair, the importance of lipids, and the science behind product selection.
I’m proud to have overcome the limiting beliefs that once held me back and to have built a thriving business out of a small failing salon suite, achieving over 126% growth in just one year. I’ve outgrown two salon suites, ranked among the best salons in South GA, and launched an education platform that now reaches stylists worldwide. This isn’t just a job for me—it’s a ministry of service, a way to live out my faith by helping others see their beauty and worth.
What sets me apart is my commitment to elevating this industry and helping others IGNITE their growth through a three-pillar approach: Inspire Growth (high performance and mindset skills), Nurture Innovation (skills behind the chair), and Triple Expansion (business and marketing skills). I’m dedicated to pushing past stereotypes in the beauty industry, elevating stylists through science-based education, and changing the narrative around hair texture. For anyone who follows my journey, I want them to know they are enough, they are worthy, and they have the power to create lasting change—whether in their hair, their career, or their life.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the most pivotal moments in my journey came during a time when everything seemed to be falling apart. I had almost no salon clients, and the income from my state job wasn’t enough to cover both business and personal expenses. I had to borrow money just to keep the salon doors open. Adding to the stress, my youngest son had been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, so maintaining health insurance was critical. I felt like I was barely holding everything together.
To make matters worse, I had a supervisor at my state job who seemed determined to make things even harder for me. They made it clear that they didn’t believe in me, and the constant stress even led to physical symptoms that had doctors suspecting I might have cancer. It was overwhelming, and every day felt like a struggle just to keep moving forward. There were days I seriously thought about giving up on my dream of running my salon.
But then something changed. I attended Success Accelerator, a mindset program that would ultimately redefine my life. Even though I didn’t know how, I felt deep down that this program could be a turning point. I went all-in, and it forced me to confront the deep-rooted beliefs that had held me back—beliefs I’d carried since cosmetology school when an instructor told me I’d never make it in this industry. Success Accelerator challenged those doubts head-on and forced me out of my comfort zone.
That program became the light switch in a dark room, helping me see that my value wasn’t tied to my circumstances or anyone else’s opinion. I started rebuilding my confidence from that day on, committing fully to the process of becoming the best version of myself. It wasn’t easy, but over time, I rebuilt my business, outgrew two salon suites, and gained the courage to create an education platform that now impacts stylists around the world. The resilience I gained from that experience not only saved my salon but also redefined my purpose. Now, I wake up each day with gratitude, knowing I have the strength to face whatever comes next.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Yes, there are several resources that have been game-changers in shaping my entrepreneurial mindset, and each one has left a unique mark on my journey. One of the most impactful tools I use daily is the GrowthDay app. It’s like having a personal development coach right in my pocket, guiding me through consistent reflection and helping me set focused goals. GrowthDay has been instrumental in keeping me centered, allowing me to track my growth and make small but powerful changes that stack up over time.
On the educational front, The Science of Changing Hair course has been transformative. It is taught by a hair stylist turned Master Chemist and Iuveni inventor, Camie Parsons. This course dives deep into the science behind hair at a molecular level and equips me with insights that set my work apart. I’ve been able to blend this scientific knowledge with holistic hair care, allowing me to teach other stylists not just how to cut and style but also how to truly understand hair’s natural chemistry. It’s a resource I continually go back to, and it’s helped me elevate both my salon and BYS Education.
I’ve also had the privilege of learning from some phenomenal coaches who have each transformed my mindset in different ways. Brad Bizjack, my mindset coach, challenged me to confront limiting beliefs and to recognize my inherent worth. His Success Accelerator program taught me how to reframe my thinking and approach challenges from a place of empowerment rather than fear. Then there’s Anthony Trucks, who I worked with on building high-performance habits. Anthony’s coaching emphasized consistency, resilience, and systems to create lasting success, and he also trained me on how to become a powerful keynote speaker. His mentorship taught me how to connect deeply with an audience, deliver impactful messages, and speak with confidence and purpose. This skill has been instrumental as I share my story and expertise with larger audiences, inspiring other stylists to elevate their careers.
Another key component of my growth has been surrounding myself with a network of high performers. Learning from people who consistently operate at their best inspires me to keep raising my own standards. Being part of this network means I’m always pushing myself to innovate, serve at a higher level, and approach my business with a level of intentionality I might not otherwise have.
Each of these resources and mentors has influenced how I approach my business, constantly blending the technical, strategic, and human aspects of entrepreneurship. They’ve shaped my belief that growth is a daily practice, and it’s possible to run a heart-centered, science-backed business with unwavering purpose and drive.
