We were lucky to catch up with Stacey Marie recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Stacey thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
“I didn’t set out to create this idea; I stumbled into this industry. I believe everything happens for a reason. In 2011, a simple social media interaction sparked my journey. I answered a podcast host’s question about creating resumes for those without work experience, leading to my first podcast guest appearance.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Encouraged by friends and colleagues, I reluctantly embarked on the journey of hosting a business talk radio show. What started as a nudge turned into an unexpected career-defining moment. Securing sponsors before the show even launched, I quickly realized I was blending my networking skills with newfound media expertise. By 2012, my show was featuring prominent guests in its very first episodes, solidifying my place in the industry.
Since then, I’ve donned many hats: media consultant, publicist, and product launcher. Now, I’ve come full circle, returning to host my business talk radio show and owning a radio station. My focus is clear: spotlighting business owners, showcasing their products and services, and creating valuable advertising opportunities.
My background encompasses hosting, consulting, public relations, and product launching. This comprehensive understanding allows me to approach business needs from multiple angles, ensuring I deliver tailored solutions.
As both a host and station owner, I possess an intimate knowledge of content creation and the business side of media. This dual perspective helps me craft engaging content while managing the operational demands of a successful radio station.
While many media outlets cater to large corporations, I have carved out a niche that amplifies the voices of small business owners. I believe in the power of local businesses and strive to elevate their stories.
I’ve developed a suite of services that offer significant exposure at price points accessible to small businesses. My goal is to help them gain visibility without breaking the bank.
I take a hands-on approach, ensuring that each business receives personalized attention and strategies tailored to their unique needs. This commitment fosters strong relationships and drives results.
By leveraging live radio, archived shows, and digital platforms, I provide a multi-pronged approach to visibility that surpasses single-platform services. This strategy ensures maximum exposure and engagement for my clients.
As the media landscape evolves, small businesses often struggle to gain visibility and share their stories. Many lack the resources for advertising on major outlets and are still grappling with the impacts of COVID-19. My radio station aims to bridge this gap by offering several services to enhance visibility for small businesses. Business owners can be featured on my radio show, sharing their stories and expertise with a wider audience. Our production team crafts compelling ad commercials that play in rotation, ensuring businesses reach their target audience effectively. Ads are not only played live but also archived and distributed across several platforms, maximizing reach. We provide rotating banner ads on our media player, further increasing visibility in the digital space.
At my radio station, our mission is clear: to provide affordable, effective media solutions for small businesses seeking to expand their reach and share their stories. As we move forward in this ever-changing media landscape, I remain committed to supporting entrepreneurs and showcasing the vibrant tapestry of small businesses that drive our economy. Together, we can create powerful narratives and foster a community that thrives on collaboration and innovation.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t just a quality—it’s a necessity. My journey through the various chapters of business ownership has been a testament to this truth, constantly challenging me to adapt, grow, and persevere.
My story begins with a bold step into a highly competitive industry, one that was predominantly a man’s world at the time. With no prior experience as an owner in this field, I found myself facing a multitude of obstacles. The challenges were daunting, but they also became my greatest teachers.
One of the most profound lessons I learned was the importance of embracing my humanity. As business owners, we often feel pressure to be infallible, but the reality is that we’re on a continuous learning journey. I made decisions that I thought were right at the time, only to discover later that they weren’t the best choices. However, I came to understand that these “mistakes” were integral parts of my growth, equipping me with better judgment and foresight for the future.
Through my experiences, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the value of intuition. Our gut feelings are not random; they’re informed by subconscious processing of information and experiences. I learned never to ignore that inner voice. It has often been my most reliable advisor in times of uncertainty.
When I found myself in that tunnel of creativity—those moments of inspiration and innovation—I learned to keep pushing forward, to see my ideas through to fruition. Doubt can be a creativity killer, and I’ve had to actively combat it throughout my journey.
There were times when self-doubt crept in, threatening to derail my progress. In these moments, I discovered the importance of self-care. Taking time for myself, engaging in activities I love, became my strategy for clearing my mind and renewing my focus. This wasn’t just about relaxation—it was a crucial part of my problem-solving process.
I recall a particularly challenging period when I faced a difficult situation and an even more difficult decision. Feeling stuck and unsure, I decided to step away from the business for three days. During this time, I immersed myself in activities I loved, allowing my mind to reset and my creativity to flow freely.
This break proved to be transformative. Away from the daily pressures, I gained clarity and perspective. By the end of those three days, I had arrived at a decision that not only resolved my immediate challenge but unexpectedly propelled my business to new heights. This decision opened doors to opportunities I hadn’t even imagined, bringing new blessings into my professional life.
My path as an entrepreneur has been filled with ups and downs, challenges and triumphs. Each obstacle has strengthened my resilience, each setback has taught me valuable lessons, and each success has affirmed my ability to overcome.
Today, I continue to face new challenges, but I do so with the confidence born from my experiences. I know that resilience is not about avoiding difficulties, but about facing them head-on, learning from them, and using them as stepping stones to greater achievements.
To fellow entrepreneurs on this journey, I say: Trust your intuition, nurture your creativity, and never doubt your ability to overcome. When faced with tough decisions, don’t be afraid to step back, clear your mind, and approach the problem with fresh eyes. Remember, the solution that takes your business to the next level might be just around the corner.
Have you ever had to pivot?
In the ever-evolving landscape of media and business, I recently found myself at a pivotal crossroads. For years, I had dedicated myself to hosting a business talk radio show, cultivating a loyal audience and establishing a reputation in the industry. However, as the world around us shifted, it became increasingly clear that my approach needed to evolve alongside it.
The media landscape has transformed dramatically in recent years. With the rise of social media, podcasts, and on-demand content, audience behaviors and expectations have shifted significantly. I observed several key trends that underscored the need for change: attention spans have shortened, listeners are seeking more dynamic engagement, and the competition for audience attention has intensified.
My established format, which had served me well, was beginning to feel outdated. To continue growing my listenership and expanding my reach, I recognized that a strategic pivot was essential.
Embracing this need for change, I set out to reinvent my show format. My primary goals became clear: to capture attention with an experience that resonates in today’s fast-paced environment, to differentiate my show from the plethora of business talk options available, and to engage new audiences while keeping my loyal listeners invested.
This reinvention required a comprehensive reevaluation of every aspect of my show—from the length of segments to the topics covered and the ways I interacted with both guests and listeners. Adapting my show wasn’t without its challenges. It demanded in-depth research into current trends in media consumption, experimentation with various formats and styles, active engagement with audience feedback, and a willingness to step outside my comfort zone.
The journey has been ongoing, but I’m already seeing encouraging results from my pivot. Engagement levels have increased, with listeners more actively participating in vibrant discussions. I’ve also welcomed new audience members eager to experience the refreshed content, and I’m encountering more opportunities for collaboration and guest appearances. Most importantly, I’ve rekindled my enthusiasm for broadcasting, feeling invigorated in my career.
This transformative experience has underscored the vital importance of adaptability in business. What works today may not work tomorrow, and success often hinges on our willingness to evolve. By staying attuned to changes within my industry and embracing the necessity for a pivot, I’ve managed to keep my show relevant and continue my professional growth.
As I look to the future, I’m excited about the possibilities that this new approach brings. I remain committed to innovating and adapting, ensuring that my business talk radio show continues to be a valuable resource for listeners in this dynamic media landscape.
