We were lucky to catch up with Stacey Henry-Carr recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stacey, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
I grew up in the corporate culture. And when I say grew up I mean exactly that. I was 23 years old when I started with a company that I stayed for almost 21 years. During my years working in the corporate world I had wonderful experiences that shaped me to having deep connections with people, which in turn created a deep understanding of myself. However it was the challenging times that taught me the most. As you can imagine 20 plus years meant I saw many changes in leadership, organizational cultures, and business practices. But I was that girl, the one who embraced and advocated those changes. I went along with the flow. Throughout it all one of my favorite things to do was connect with my employees. I knew their life outside of work and I loved guiding them. So throughout the years even after moving to different offices and being promoted to senior leadership I would hear the same thing, “Stacey you should be a counselor”. I heard that from many different employees because I took the time to do more for them than performance coaching. I was their Life Coach! I knew back then that these employees were more than the metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) that were required. I knew it with every cell of being that the way to high performance was through connection and understanding of each person. I believe it was an innate ability that I possessed. So how did this lead me to doing the work I do now? When I was with this organization I never saw myself as an entrepreneur. I was following societal script. Go to college get a degree, get a job, make it your career, and then retire. But soon I learned that was not for me. The passion I found in my daily duties were centered more around my employees and the people than it was the policies or driving performance. As you may well imagine that wasn’t popular with new leadership. Things had changed and it was time for me to move with changes or move on. I wish I could tell you that I got the memo and took action. It was years after knowing that my time was up that I left this organization. It was also after things became very uncomfortable as if I needed that discomfort to take that leap.
So what were my lessons:
Many of us are searching for our purpose in life not knowing we are our purpose. I had been living my passion of guiding others all along without recognizing it. I was their Life Coach!
People see you for exactly who you are even when you don’t! Listen to the feedback around you. “Stacey you should be a counselor”.
Sometimes when things get uncomfortable it is just the Universe trying to show you a new path! It’s time to grow!
I am grateful for the experiences I had as a corporate leader. They aided in shaping me to be the Life Coach I am today. It was intense practice. I have since learned to look at all experiences as practice for growth.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Who is Stacey Henry-Carr? I have been where you are! Knowing that I wanted to live a full life, but did not always know I deserved it. I was blocked by past beliefs and traumas. But not anymore! I am passionate about breaking generational cycles and creating a new legacy for my children. I help women to interrupt their old patterns and programming through the power of their subconscious mind. I guide them to replace old imprints with the freedom to live an intentional life.
What makes me qualified to guide you to success? I have over twenty years working as a corporate leader and performance coach but knew there was more for me. So, in 2016, I left my corporate job to live my desired life as a Life Coach & Hypnotherapist. My clients come from across the globe with one thing in common, to break old patterns. I am a Certified Jay Shetty Life & Success Coach and Marisa Peer Certified Rapid Transformational Therapy Practitioner(RTT), a member of the National Guild of Hypnotist, a self-published Author of Live your Truth and Break the Cycle, a Transformational Speaker, a podcast host, and a coach on the Aura Health App.
It is important that you know that the transition from corporate to now came with many challenges, doubts, resistance, procrastination, imposter syndrome and many others. I believe sharing these challenges help others to know that they can overcome these sabotaging thoughts. I am most proud of the woman I have become. Despite the odds I learned that I am the creator, the director, and the publisher of my existence. Therefore I stayed the course and remained consistent. My logo has a butterfly because the life cycle of a butterfly is a true testament for the transformation that awaits all of us.
I believe that we already have everything we need to live a peaceful and successful life. We just need Mind, Body & Spirit alignment. I use hypnosis, visualization, and meditation to help women find what lies beneath the things that are blocking their success. Some of the challenges that I help clients to resolve are confidence, procrastination, money wounds, sleep issues, anxiety, relationship issues etc. The thing to know is that our subconscious mind is like a recorder. It is your mind of preference and the way you show up in your life is how it believes you want to show up! It’s vital for you to know you can change your mind, because your mind only does what it thinks you want it do.
If you know that you have more to offer but don’t know where to start or feeling overwhelmed with life I can help to guide you to creating a blueprint to your successful life using the power of your subconscious mind.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
In today’s coaching market there are so many different advice from many experts floating around social media. You can get lost trying to implement different strategies especially in the infancy stage of growing your clientele. It can be overwhelming! This is one of the reasons many talented coaches and entrepreneurs give up within the first year. However, one of my favorite quotes from Steve Jobs is “If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time.” I learned in the first year of my journey as a life coach not to compare my beginning to someone else’s middle. So I decided to use a referral program to grow my client base. Years later it is still one of my favorite ways to receive clients. Here are some of my strategies:
I share inspiration and add value on my social media.
I share client’s testimonial and feedback (only when approved by clients)
I collaborate with other coaches, therapists, and practitioners
I use my logo and branding for easy recognition.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I wouldn’t change anything about my journey to this point. I know that sounds radical, however I believe that each step of my journey was practice and preparation for the next. This includes my failures, loss, pain etc. Each day that I practice as a Hypnotherapist and a Life Coach I get to make a phenomenal life changing impact on my client. That is my fuel for the daily passion I step into this work with. When I was in the Jay Shetty Coaching School, I was asked how long do you plan on being a Life Coach? My answer was for the rest of my life. I love what I do! I love the impact it makes for others! I will continue to learn and grow my craft.
