Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Stacey Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Stacey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
I would say I am more fulfilled as a business owner. I like the idea of just clocking in and out and not worrying about my work when I am not there, but I love what I do! Every time I tell someone about my space and what I am creating I get chills. To me that means I am right where I should be doing something worthwhile. I also love that I’m able to show my kids how to go after their dreams, it’s not easy but always worth it. My family has always been very supportive of what I am building.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Stacey Green, I am a birth and postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and now own The Utah Birth Place. I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have three children, they are 15, 12, and 9. I became interested in birth work after having my oldest. I quickly realized how much support I needed, even with my family being close and helping. I have been a doula for six years now but really wanted to be more involved in the community, as well as help families fine all of the support that is available to them. I had the idea to open a birth center where anyone could bring the birth team that they wanted to surround them during this life event. Not only that but have one place to go to get trusted support from birth professionals in their community.
At The Utah Birth Place we have many resources for families to build their village with. We offer the birth suite to ANY home birth midwives’ clients to use. The goal is to allow you to find the midwife that fits your needs and vision and still be able to give birth in a beautiful space. With that being said, if you choose to give birth at home, we support that as well, we can help assist you in finding your birth team. We have referrals to some amazing midwives in the area as well as birth and postpartum doulas. We teach Mindfully Prepared Birth Classes that will help clients prepare for any time of birth they plan on, and even one they don’t. We have a five-week course, a three-hour course (that is great as a refresher), and even a c-section course. The Utah Birth Place has a lending library for clients to come check out books. We carry doTerra essential oils that are available for purchase.
The Lactation Collection holds by-weekly breastfeeding support groups here the help with all your lactation needs. Maternal Massage is now here at The Utah Birth Place to help with all the aches and pains, whether it’s for a prenatal or postpartum massage. They also take clients just looking for a great massage, no need to be pregnant or postpartum! We also have many events where we bring in speakers to talk about different topics related to this phase of life.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building an audience on social media takes time. Luckily, I was already in the birth community as a doula and knew many people to share my vision with. I opened all of the accounts and built my brand with the help of Soul Seed Acadamy. I go to as many networking events as I can to get connected with many businesses that are in my community. I also network on social media. At one of the networking events, I met an amazing virtual assistant Jenna Azera with Azentials Virtual Assisting. She has helped me get set up with emails and also helps with blogs and any questions I have. Other than that, social media is all about posting often to get seen. I use an app that helps me manage my posts so it’s not something I need to spend my entire day on. I make posts in batches and then schedule them to post on all of my accounts.

If you have multiple revenue streams in your business, would you mind opening up about what those streams are and how they fit together?
I have multiple streams of income for The Utah Birth Place. I sell essential oils, rent out rooms to related companies, rent out the birthing suite, and rent out the gathering space for classes. I also have an affiliate program for midwives and doulas to be able to have me help advertise their services. Affiliate birth workers also get discounts on space rentals and things at the birth center.
