We recently connected with Stacey Flores and have shared our conversation below.
Stacey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
As a wedding and couples photographer, love is my why. I strive to capture heartfelt images that show exactly what makes a relationship special between two madly in love people. I enjoy meeting new people, learning about my clients’ stories, and providing a service that allows me to freeze lifelong, authentic memories to cherish forever. Whether my couples want to get fancied up and hit downtown, run around in a field together, enjoy a beautiful sunset on the beach, or go back to where they had their first date… every couple is different and should be able to showcase their story in a way that’s unique to them. At the end of the day, I always focus on the connection and in-between moments that remind my couples exactly how they felt in that moment. Seeing how happy my clients are during our session together and the happy texts I receive afterwards is such a fulfilling feeling that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve been passionate for photography since middle school and my dad is truly the reason behind it all. My dad is a DJ and when I was younger, he brought me to his weddings, birthday parties, sweet 16s, etc. to take photos for him with his camera. Fast forward to high school, I started taking pictures of friends and family for fun with the equipment my dad already had. I went through tons of trial and error while experimenting with his camera and knew nothing compared to what I know now. A few years later, when I felt more confident and knowledgable, I started to charge for sessions and increased my prices as I gained more experience. I eventually used the money I made from my paid sessions to invest in my own camera and lenses. At first, I dabbled in photographing a little bit of everything— seniors, families, engagements, maternity, etc. However, it only took about a year for me to realize that I wanted to solely focus on couples and weddings, because I knew how happy it made me and I’m so glad I did! I think what sets me apart is that when a couple hires me, they’re getting more than just a photographer. They’re gaining a new friend who will assist with bringing their vision to life and be their personal hype girl through it all!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Online education and photography groups! I can’t stress enough how helpful both are, especially when first starting out. Photography groups are great to ask other photographers for questions or advice. They’re also great to share your work on and connect with other creatives in your area and/or around the world! Online education is a must and although I’m mostly self taught, I’ve invested in a few education courses and they were always worth it. There’s always room to grow and you’d be surprised how much more you can learn from others!

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Giving each of my clients the BEST experience possible! I feel like when clients are happy with their photos and experience, they’ll more likely to recommend you to their family and friends! Social media is also a great way to get your work out there for others to see!
