Spencer, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?

One of the biggest trends rights now in the dog breeding world is people being uneducated about breeding and about their breed of choice. Unfortunately people have found out how lucrative dog breeding is so they are getting dogs for all the wrong reasons. Due to the high influx of uneducated breeders it’s causing many dogs to be born with health problems and deformities. This problem is most prominent in the bull breeds.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am dog breeder with 10+ years of experience with dogs and breeding. I have always loved dogs and wanted to be a breeder since I was a kid. When entering college i originally wanted to be a vet.

Breeding dogs had taken me to many places and connected me with many different people all over the world. I take pride in the way I treat my dogs and and the quality that I produce. After many years of networking and educating myself I started to realize that there are a lot of breeders that have not taken the time to actually learn how to breed. I would have hundreds of people asking me questions about things that I feel you should already know prior to attempting to become a breeder. I noticed that dog breeding was one of the few lucrative industries where you don’t have to acquire a certification, any type of training, and no classes setup to teach people how to do it.

That’s when I created my company B.I.G. Dog Seminars LLc. B.I.G. is an acronym for Breeding intelligence & Growth. The purpose of this company is to educate breeders on how to breed and care for the adults dogs and pups. My goal is to answer the many many questions people may have in order to prevent unhealthy dogs, unnecessary loss of money, unsuccessful breedings and much more. I love talking about dogs and also educating others so I figured this was a great idea.

I offer three different courses that people can choose from to learn about breeding. These courses are very detailed and informative. My seminars are filled with pictures, videos, and first person experiences that you will not find on the internet. When someone choose to take one of my course they will now being able to enter the breeding world and not be completely blindsided by things that can and will happen in this industry. For some reason many breeders don’t like to help newcomers and give them valuable information so I am that person who will happily educate any new or experienced breeder who is looking for answers. I offer virtual and in person course. We are also planning to partner with major companies and brands for sponsorship and hopefully some events for breeders and future breeders.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

The main things that contributed to my solid reputation are consistency, quality, good business ethics.

The consistency come from constantly producing good dogs, always being available to answer questions with a helpful answer, and being persistent with visibility.

When speaking of quality I’m speaking on the quality of dogs I’ve produced before ever beginning to teach people how to breed. Also the quality in which I carry and present myself to others when they are interested in doing business.

Good business ethics as far as how I treat and handle my clients and potential clients. Having integrity is a major key. Making your clients trust you and marking them comfortable are very important. Having legal documentation for you and your clients protection. If something has gone wrong on my end I make sure to correct the issue in order to assure my client that they have not been mislead or mishandled.

How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.

You can book classes directly on my website www.bigdogseminars.org. I like the option of people being able to visit my website read all about what it is that I offer and then being able to pay and book their course of choice right there on their electronic device. After the Covid pandemic contactless arrangements became a thing so I wanted to be able to offer contactless for those who would prefer that particular option.
