Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Spencer Giorgio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Spencer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
We know that our Head Hammocks allow customers to gain health benefits in new ways compared with how people traditionally lay on a blanket at the beach, at a pool, or in a park. We have worked with Chiropractors to specifically design a chic yet functional and utilitarian product that is good for you. However, we received this customer review on our website that stands out to us, as a testament to our process and methodology.
“Great product that supports health, wellness and comfort! I have to say these hammocks are amazing and you will never want to leave the house without one! When I first tried the Azure Head Hammock I was in awe of the amount of relief it gave me. I have plates and screws in my neck from a spinal fusion surgery and I have never been able to get comfortable at the beach until I tried out this product! I highly recommend this product!” Meghan Lennehan.
This means so much to us – that a customer is now finding comfort and elevated relaxation by using one of our Head Hammocks!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, my name is Spencer and I am the founder of The Azure. We are a luxury beach product business that specializes in making an ecosystem of products that are wonderfully made, reasonably priced. We have three available things that will make your beach/outside experience extremely relaxing and fun: our Head Hammock, our two-piece beach chair, and our 3ft. umbrella.
The Azure was sparked in Thailand, refined in Spain, and brought to life in Los Angeles – I have called all three areas home for around 10 years. The first model of The Azure Head Hammock was created in Thailand on a piece of paper after I traveled to Bali and bought a similar rendition of it. This part of the business failed years ago for several reasons, and I had a surplus left over. After moving to Los Angeles from Spain, I used this Model I at the beach, and many people came up to me asking about it… that is where Model II and III stem from, the re-do of The Azure Head Hammocks.
I spend a lot of time at the beach and never found it comfortable to lay horizontally, therefore, the problem we aim to fix is being uncomfortable at the beach while making relaxation an attainable luxury. Our flagship Head Hammock is something very simple yet utilitarian. It has gone through these model fixes to make the perfect horizontal experience in the sun. We are where we are today – selling in four countries, online + at markets in a direct-to-consumer way, and business-to-business, we are in several retailers around The USA – because of this vision. I want people to indulge in the good life when going to the beach, you don’t need a ton of stuff to make yourself comfortable. Our product lineup is geared at creating an oasis with minimal input/things, maximum relaxation.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth plays a huge role in our journey and success. The two-piece beach chair + umbrella are part of a flooded market, we must stand out in small ways, whether it is the material that the products are made from or the design i.e. a 3ft. umbrella versus the standard 5 or 7ft. ones. For our Head Hammocks, this is a new frontier and for all three, it is imperative that customers spread the word!
We pride ourselves on the craftsmanship and quality of our products and coupled with our chic and nostalgic vibes, we feel we have a strong differentiator compared with other beach products.
Whether it is a review online, a customer telling a friend about the company/products, or an instagram story helping us reach new audiences, these variables and items build reputability. Successful companies do an excellent job of captivating attention – if we have help from our customers, it goes a long way. People want to trust other people, not just an ad… if you have brand promoters by using the products or speaking highly of them, it helps a lot and builds trust.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Because it is just me, I had to unlearn the speed at which I normally operate within. There is only so much one can do in a single day, so I prioritize the running list of items by asking myself “what will move the needle the furthest?” I have always tried to work smart, but putting this as the cornerstone to my daily inputs is imperative.
Unlearning that I can’t run before walking and crawling has been critical to the success of The Azure. We must grow at a sustainable and standardized way or else things will slip through the cracks. Quality over quantity, customer service, strategic mindset + growth initiatives all have to be balanced within. Being mindful with the growth of the company is fragile and is constantly monitored by myself.
