Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Spencer Capron. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Spencer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
When I launched Capron Media, I relied too heavily on one-time contracts, which made every month a scramble for revenue. If I could do it over, I’d start with a subscription model to build steady, predictable income and scale sustainably.

Spencer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I became a business owner by accident in 2020, inheriting a few clients from a small agency that closed. Within months, the revenue dried up. My second attempt in 2021 faltered for the usual reasons—no real model, no recurring income, and lots of overthinking.
Everything changed after I worked at an IT managed services company, where I dove deep into SEO and content strategy for a software launch. That hands-on experience, paired with an unexpected layoff, pushed me to build the third—and most successful—iteration of Capron Media.
Today, we help clients build marketing strategies rooted in sound business models and sustainable revenue. What sets us apart is that we understand marketing isn’t a fix-all; it only works when the business itself is built to last.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After months of chasing inconsistent projects, I realized I needed a reliable revenue stream to build real momentum. That’s when I pivoted to a subscription-based SEO service. Turning SEO into a clear, step-by-step system wasn’t easy—but once I cracked the code, it became a win-win: clients get a transparent, results-driven approach to growing their traffic, and I get the stability to focus on long-term impact.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn as a marketing agency owner was to always sell high ticket packages and services. I had to relearn it to be able to serve my ideal customer in the best way.
