We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Developing routines—both mental and physical—have helped build my resilience. These routines have been my foundation, giving me the capacity to face those daily hurdles and navigate the demands of the role consistently. Resilience isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s the fuel that keeps you moving forward, no matter what comes your way. Resilience is something I’ve relied on time and time again, especially for turning around struggling organizations. Resilience is what truly sustains you. It’s the mental toughness and emotional endurance to keep going to transform courage into consistent action. That’s what drives real results.
Any advice for managing a team?
Managing a team and maintaining high morale is all about fostering genuine connections. Relatable leaders know that people thrive when they feel seen, heard, and valued. This starts with understanding the individuals who make up the team. By investing time to learn about their team members’ strengths, challenges, motivations, and personal goals, leaders can create an environment where everyone feels understood and supported.
Here’s some practical advice:
Build relationships, not just roles: Take moments to genuinely connect—whether it’s through casual check-ins, shared stories, or celebrating accomplishments together. Treat them as people first and contributors second.
Tailor your approach: Recognize that no two people are the same. A cookie-cutter management style can miss the mark for diverse personalities. Adapt expectations and support to match individual needs whenever possible.
Bridge goals with passion: Help team members see how their personal goals can align with the organization’s objectives. When people feel their work contributes to both their aspirations and the bigger picture, it’s a win-win.
Communicate authentically: Be transparent and approachable. Share not just decisions, but the “why” behind them. Encourage open dialogue and show empathy during challenges.
Leading with relatability means showing that you genuinely care about your team’s well-being and success. When your team sees you putting effort into meeting their needs, they’re much more likely to feel motivated, connected, and ready to do their best.
