Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Spencena Dalmas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Spencena, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
When I first had the idea for my healthcare company, my journey began in a challenging place. At 17, with a young son and no support, I prayed earnestly, asking God for a job that would allow me to care for him while working. That prayer led me to a daycare teacher position at a church, which was a pivotal moment in my life. Despite numerous personal challenges, including a turbulent family background and my own struggles, I saw this opportunity as a blessing from the Lord.
Over time, I pursued education in early childhood development, earning an associate’s and a bachelor’s degree. I initially intended to open a daycare at home, but various challenges and setbacks, including a failed SBA loan, redirected me towards the healthcare industry. A significant breakthrough came when I started working in Pinellas County and discovered the possibility of starting my own agency. Despite the hurdles in getting approved by insurance companies and meeting certification requirements, I trusted in God’s plan for me. My agency, Hope Health, will be fully operational by August.
Parallel to this, I pursued my passion for entertainment. After moving away from an abusive marriage and starting to rediscover myself, I realized that I wanted to pursue the things I loved. From a young age, I had dreamed of flying planes and acting. Writing has always been my passion, whether it’s books, songs, or poems. Although I initially pursued aviation, hoping to get my pilot’s license, the cost was prohibitive. However, my love for writing and creativity remained central to my life.
In college, I became involved in theater and community events, which further fueled my passion for acting and creative expression. I also ventured into modeling and acting, taking classes and working with an agent. Unfortunately, I became a victim of a scam involving a production investment that led to significant financial loss. Despite this setback, I remained committed to my creative pursuits, driven by my faith and determination.
With God’s guidance, I eventually decided to focus on Spencena Entertainment. This venture allows me to merge my creative passions with a nonprofit approach, supporting undiscovered talent and underserved communities. While the business is still in its early stages, I’m excited about the opportunities it presents and the potential for future growth.
I continue to dream of one day achieving my childhood ambition of becoming a pilot, and who knows? Maybe that dream will come true someday. For now, I’m deeply invested in my work in entertainment and healthcare, balancing both with faith and perseverance.
My journey has been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a deep reliance on my faith. I’ve faced many hardships, but through it all, I’ve remained driven by faith and a commitment to my passions. My advice to others is to work hard, stay obedient to Christ’s teachings, and share your resources generously. By combining these principles with a relentless pursuit of your dreams, you can overcome obstacles and achieve your goals.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights. Before we dive into the next set of questions, could you take a moment to introduce yourself and give our readers some background and context?
I’m Spencena, a native of Tampa Bay who has also lived in South Florida for four years of my life. I was born at Tampa General Hospital and am a proud University of South Florida alumna. I come from a second-generation Christian family and have faced numerous challenges throughout my life, including molestation, rape, homelessness, bullying, false accusations, and domestic abuse. People often assume that pretty girls have it easy, but the truth is, that appearance can bring about its own set of struggles and pain.
Despite these difficulties, I have remained optimistic and committed to my goals. I’ve found strength and support in my close-knit circle of friends and family, and I relate deeply to others because of my experiences. I understand that life has its ups and downs, but I firmly believe that with faith and perseverance, we can overcome obstacles and achieve our dreams.
I’m in the process of creating a production company with a mission to make Tampa Bay a prominent hub in the entertainment industry, potentially even redefining the landscape that Hollywood has long dominated. My goal is to not only showcase the incredible talent that Tampa Bay has to offer but also to address and rectify some of the problematic aspects of the traditional entertainment industry.
In Hollywood, there are numerous challenges and unwelcome practices, such as the notion that you only get to ask for a favor once and the pervasive issues of exploitation and abuse. I’m committed to changing that by creating an environment where talent from all backgrounds can thrive without compromising their integrity. My company will act as a liaison between aspiring individuals and top industry professionals, ensuring that talent gets the recognition and opportunities they deserve without facing the unethical practices often seen in the industry.
I’m particularly focused on making a significant social impact by fostering an inclusive and respectful atmosphere. For instance, I have zero tolerance for sexual misconduct or abuse of any kind. No one will be required to compromise their values to succeed in this new environment I’m building.
n addition to my work in entertainment, I also run a healthcare company, Hope Health. It is open to the public and operates within West Central Early Steps, accepting medical insurance. I am currently applying for grants to expand Hope Health to Hillsborough County Schools, where we provide Early Intervention Therapy.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Basically am creating a production company that will put Tampa Bay on the map, but will also replace Hollywood. There are so many bad things in Hollywood and so many stupid rules. I’m really trying to make a social impact and remove all of those problems. For example, there’s this thing about you only get to ask For a favor one time in the industry. I’m eliminating that altogether by being the liaison between the common person or the dreamer too big time producers or script writers. And I’m giving Talent more of a room to be heard. I will not tolerate sexual misconduct abuse anything of that nature no one will have to sleep with anybody and industry to feel like they have to make it and thank God I’ve never had to do that Anyway, entertainment is basically for undiscovered and under represented talent entertainment is a DBA celebration learning Center which is my nonprofit. It’s been seen in what operate under the same morals and values. It’s a weird structure. Have seen anybody do it yet but that’s OK cause I’m always the first to do stuff , anyway you can read more about it. I can send you the information. Trying to get ready for church and I wanted to hurry up and get this done for you. As far as my healthcare company is concerned, it’s not something that’s open to the public. I work directly with the schools in Early steps so that’s not something that they need to know much about anyway.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One significant lesson I’ve had to unlearn is the idea that there’s a perfect time for everything and that you should wait for the “right” moment to pursue your passions and dreams. Early in life, I believed that I needed to follow a more traditional path: complete my education, get married, have children, and then, chase my dreams.
What I’ve come to realize is that waiting for a specific set of circumstances to align can be a trap. Napoleon Hill said, “Do not wait: the time will never be just right., and that’s a truth. I wish I had embraced sooner. I learned that there’s no perfect moment to start pursuing your goals. Instead, you should take action whenever you can, regardless of your circumstances.
I waited to finish school, to start a business, and to follow my passions. Now, I recognize that I could have pursued my dreams with greater vigor earlier on. Had I prioritized my passions and aspirations sooner, I might have had more energy.
Unlearning this lesson has taught me to act on my dreams now rather than waiting for ideal conditions. It’s a mindset that has helped me embrace opportunities and face challenges head-on, no matter where I am in life.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best way to get clients is to honestly join every board or group or federal agency that’s involved in that industry network with the market with them take classes with them. For example, I go to film festivals, I go to art festival anything that’s in the entertainment industry, I will go Because I know that I’m gonna meet people and that has catapult my career way more social media. Even though I used to have a large following at my old social media so now I’m starting over but that’s fine with me cause I really don’t like being in front of the camera. I don’t like the spotlight I want with me more
