We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sparkle Lindsay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Sparkle thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.

One of the most defining moments, in my professional career, was when I made the pivot from working around the clock in corporate America, to turning down 125,000 dollar promotion to get sober and take my life back. That moment was the moment that changed my life forever and changed the beginning of who i am becoming along with the beginning of building a business from the ground up.

Sparkle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Sparkle Lindsay and I am a keynote motivational speaker, author, and International Recovery Coach Professional Facilitator in Denver Colorado.

I have been advocating for transformation and growth, for 5 years, and it has changed my life forever. I was first compelled to speak to those and advocate for those in recovery when I saw what I called a great life, spiral into a deep dark abyss of depression, addiction, self-doubt, and major autoimmune pain. I soon would turn down a 125k promotion to take my life back.

I began to realize that the only person that was going to be able to make things happen for me, was me. I have been working on myself and maintaining the gift of presence daily to endure and embrace the love for myself and the gift of helping others help themselves through positive transformation one step at a time.

Prior to the age of 35, I earned education in communications and business management, which I have currently translated to a specialization in executive coaching, mental health coaching, recovery, and life coaching. To further my credentials, I am also a state licensed recovery coach, with the certification of the Colorado Peer & Family Specialist, (CPFS), which I have continued to utilize to reach those in need, and also worked to further my education by receiving my masters of science degree in psychology.

Here at Sparkle LLC we help people and encourage them to maintain sobriety, transformation, participate in recovery-orientated activities, and develop a network of sober supports.

I help those to identify and access the needed resources and recovery support along with finding a way to become a better them, in their journey to sobriety and positive transformation.

Through my Peer Recovery Coach Trainings, Being a Better me for me masterclass, and Do you have the Legs to your Table masterclasses, I have had the luxury of helping 850 coaches through my courses, which certified those to be great coaches in the real world, by creating what people call an experience.

I believe in meeting myself and people where they are at daily.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

About two years ago, my business was on the brink of closure. I was looking to get funding for my business and I chose to try a new program, that would help me put money into the. business. I was excited for my decision and I stuck to it all the way tot he end.As time went on, the money I thought was coming, never did, until one day the person I was working with called me to tell me that deposits were in. I was extra excited, finally all this hard work had paid off right? Nope not so much. I asked my business partner at the time how much was the deposit? Now keep in mind, this deposit was supposed to be at least 7-15,000 dollars. to my dismay he said “297.00 to share.” My heart dropped, and that was the day I thought I may have lost my business forever.

Low and behold, i really had to dig deep and go back to the drawing board,I had to remember my vision and the goal I had for the business, and go back to the basics. I had to trust the process and move forward, by trusting in myself and accepting the plans my higher power had to offer. I was in my higher power’s waiting room for a few weeks, and I soon received a call from a company by the name of Rocky Mountain Sober Living. They called and the owner asked “do you think you have room for 16 people who want to to be peer coaches?” I said absolutely! That day was the turning point to the business, and it has not stopped growing ever since. There were many lessons in this story for me that kept and keep me humble, but it also challenged me to put my faith over fear and jump right in. No one can tell you how to do you, because your the only one that can do that. Stay the course and trust your process, and enjoy the journey, be mindful it just may be a wild ride.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I had to learn how to control the things i could control with me, by staying on my side of the street, and allowing others to do them. I had to lose the ego and the pride and learn to value people through love, compassion, and empathy. When I was in corporate I was taught to work with your people, and make sure to get what the company wanted done. after I left corporate i realized that I may have been doing this thing called life a bit backwards. It was time to move forward for myself by owning my own transformation and allowing my thoughts to expand to greater lengths, and in doing so, I was able to take my life back, start a company, and live a healthy and fulfilled life from the inside out. Whenever I see myself trying o go back to old habits, I make sure that I realign myself with supports that believe and trust in me. This helps me stay on track.
