We were lucky to catch up with Sparkle Jai recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sparkle , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
I love this question!!!! As a fashion designer you will always get more clients wanting you to duplicate a look they saw and loved. I don’t duplicate my own creations let alone someone else’s. With me you can get the same style but different color or pattern, I pride myself on creating original one of a kind pieces, and no amount of money can change that!!!!
Sparkle , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hey guys I’m Sparkle Jai of Sparkle’s Junk Bowtique. I started seeing by hand at the age of 7 and for my 14th birthday my mom bought me my first sewing machine. I Always had my own style and sense of fashion, but growing up in the late 80’s early 90’s it was wide eyed lol. I often got yelled at because I was always cutting up and revamping some clothes.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience to me is over coming uncontrollably obstacles while staying the course. Two years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing radiation treatment while still sewing!!! I was determined to be resilient and LIVE, I had to for my babies.
Have you ever had to pivot?
This is so funny to me because I’m currently taking a hiatus from sewing and pivoting into nails/care. I plan on rebranding Sparkle’s Junk Bowtique and coming back stronger and better!!! This is a much needed mental break!!!!
