My mission with DriveIt is to redefine convenience and revolutionize essential services. This mission is deeply personal, sparked by the frustration my parents faced when they had to wait six months for a DMV appointment, forcing us to drive 60 miles north for a faster slot.
This experience opened my eyes to the widespread challenge of inefficient scheduling in essential services. Witnessing the impact firsthand, I realized the urgent need to leverage innovation and technology to simplify these processes.
Redefining convenience isn’t just about solving a problem—it’s about empowering individuals to reclaim their time and mobility. By revolutionizing essential services through DriveIt, I’m driven to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives and transform inconvenience into innovation.

I’m Sowmya Nandyala, a 13-year-old entrepreneur fueled by a passion for innovation and a driven problem-solver. My journey into entrepreneurship began when my family faced a frustrating six-month wait for DMV appointments due to expired licenses. Witnessing this challenge firsthand, I saw an opportunity to innovate and simplify the appointment process.
That’s when DriveIt was born—a user-friendly platform designed to revolutionize DMV appointment scheduling using innovative technology. By harnessing real-time monitoring and advanced tools, DriveIt reduces wait times and offers personalized appointment options tailored to user preferences. We’ve collectively saved our users over 10 years of waiting time since our MVP launch about 2 months ago!
I’m incredibly proud of my achievements, including winning first place in the highly competitive Young Entrepreneurs Competition (YEA Saunders Scholars) in Rochester, where I was titled America’s Top Young Entrepreneur. This victory came with prestigious scholarships, including a full ride to the Golisano Institute and $30,000 towards Rochester Institute of Technology, along with a $5,000 cash prize.
My entrepreneurial journey is not just about providing a service—it’s about challenging the status quo, transforming industries and empowering individuals. I am an ardent reader who strongly believes in the importance of women entrepreneurship and the need for more female leaders in business. Women bring unique perspectives, creativity, and resilience to the table, and I’m passionate about fostering an environment where women can thrive and lead.
I’m also excited to share that I’m writing a book titled “She Means Business: Empowering Girls to Lead and Succeed,” aimed at inspiring and empowering teen girls to pursue entrepreneurship and leadership. Taking risks, pushing the boundaries, and dreaming BIG is what we need our teens to do. As my mentor always says, Fail just means first attempt in learning. I truly believe it.

In the early days of DriveIt’s development, I encountered numerous challenges that tested my resilience as a young entrepreneur. With many technical hurdles in integrating innovative technology, the journey was far from easy. However, instead of giving up to doubts, I embraced setbacks as opportunities to learn and grow. I sought out mentors, educated myself relentlessly, and persisted through obstacles with unwavering determination. One pivotal moment came when I faced technical complexities in implementing real-time monitoring and personalized features into DriveIt. Rather than giving up, I explored innovative solutions, and pushed forward with resilience. This journey taught me the invaluable lesson that resilience is key to success in entrepreneurship—it’s about embracing challenges, adapting to setbacks, and continuously innovating to achieve meaningful impact. Through perseverance and resilience, DriveIt evolved from an ambitious idea into a transformative platform, positively impacting thousands of users and reinforcing my belief in the power of determination.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Building a strong reputation within the market involved a multifaceted approach that encompassed strategic marketing efforts, networking, community engagement, and a relentless commitment to innovation. Our marketing strategy was pivotal, utilizing targeted Google Ads, and PPC campaigns to generate leads and drive awareness, effectively bringing more potential users to the top of our sales funnel and expanding our reach within the industry.
Networking played a crucial role, enabling us to establish credibility and foster valuable connections. Active engagement with industry professionals, mentors, and fellow entrepreneurs provided insights, partnerships, and support that contributed significantly to DriveIt’s growth and recognition.
Moreover, receiving prestigious awards like being named America’s Top Young Entrepreneur in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy Saunders Scholars National Competition served as a transformative milestone. This achievement not only validated our innovative approach but also garnered substantial media attention, further enhancing our reputation.
However, one of the most significant contributors to our reputation was the consistent delivery of exceptional service. Since the MVP launch, DriveIt has garnered all 5-star reviews from all 263 customers. This exceptional track record not only boosted our reputation for new prospects but also generated positive word-of-mouth referrals.
