We were lucky to catch up with Sosha Adams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sosha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
While traveling abroad in places known for pick pocketing, I was constantly stashing my cash and cards in unconventional ways, such as in my bra, or my boots to prevent pick pocketing or my purse being snatched as I’ve witnessed before my eyes. I created Clever Nomad Passport Travel Wallet as a solution to carrying cash and personal items in a safe manner. This wallet is a crossbody design that can be worn easily under clothes as well offers RFID protection preventing credit card information from being swiped.
I also started travel consulting since I have traveled to 26 states and 23 countries and friends and family always asked for travel advice and itinerary planning. So many people want to travel but have no idea where to start or become overwhelmed with the entire planning process. I also will start offering group trips in 2024.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi, my name is Sosha Adams, I am a U.S.Navy veteran who graduated from law school in 2021. I have traveled to 23 countries and 26 states and will continue to travel until I can’t anymore. My passion for travel has led me to become an entrepreneur and run my travel business full-time. I created Clever Nomad LLC in 2019 with the vision and goal to help expand the minds of travelers, or those who are curious about traveling but do not know how or where to even begin. Our first product was the passport travel wallet. This was created because I saw a need when I was traveling abroad with the high rate of pickpocketing as well as purse snatching (which I witnessed once in Barcelona, Spain). Throughout my travels, I was hiding my cash and important documents in unconventional areas; such as in my bra or my socks, and this travel wallet can be worn crossbody or even under clothes which is not ideal for a pickpocketer.
Although the launch of Clever Nomad did not go as planned due to the pandemic that hit a few months later, I didn’t give up and decided to start offering travel packages for when the world would reopen. These travel packages cater to anyone but mainly those career individuals who are so busy that finding time to curate their dream vacation from start to finish feels like another daunting task after they’ve already clocked out of work. I decided to offer custom itinerary trip planning to any destination in the world, cruise bookings, and offering to host group trips starting in 2024, as many people do not feel comfortable traveling solo like myself, but still want to see the world with other like-minded individuals.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me has been my social media pages, and word of mouth through friends and family. When people see you actually doing the things your business represents you become trustworthy. Sharing your experiences and being more vulnerable to your audience builds trust. It also inspires I have had so many people tell me that they started traveling because of me, or have reached out by a simple DM to get advice for a first trip they are nervous about planning.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Honestly, I had launched my business in July 2019 and a few months later the pandemic hit. No one wanted to buy anything related to travel, so my wallets were sitting in storage collecting fees. It got so bad I shipped almost my entire stock back to my house. I thought my brand new business was finished before it even could get started, but I really thought deep and I knew this was only temporary and how passionate I am about traveling and helping others to travel safely and on a budget as well, so I decided to focus while the world was “shut” and start making itineraries, building a new website from scratch, and posting on my personal travel account @wanderlusting4justice, and the work has paid off because once the world reopened, I had people so ready and anxious to travel again! Definitely don’t give up on your dreams or passion when you hit a rough patch,
