We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sormeh Attarzadeh a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sormeh, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success, for me, is a journey fueled by relentless determination and the courage to embrace risks. It’s about realizing that being a bit nervous about taking chances is normal, but it shouldn’t hold us back from the abundance of opportunities waiting for us beyond our comfort zone.
My belief in success has evolved. I used to think it followed a set script — go to school, secure a degree, and pursue a defined career. But life taught me that success is far from a one-size-fits-all formula. It thrives in the unexpected twists and turns.
I’ve discovered that the uncertainty we face is a source of strength. Each challenge isn’t a roadblock; it’s a stepping stone to growth. Success isn’t a fixed point; it’s an ongoing journey, a continuous process of learning and resilience.
In my story, success is about breaking free from the expected, taking those leaps of faith, and recognizing that the most rewarding opportunities often emerge from the unexplored corners of our journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After graduating from LMU in 2015, I initially pursued law but quickly realized it wasn’t my true passion. Leaving law school was a tough decision, but it led me to a game-changing internship in real estate.
Growing up, societal expectations led me down a conventional path, but breaking away brought a sense of relief. Co-founding Zentap with my millennial team was a response to the inefficiencies we saw in real estate marketing.
Zentap is more than a company; it’s a digital revolution for real estate professionals. Our automated software has empowered hundreds of clients, transforming how they approach social media marketing and business acceleration.
From a garage startup to pioneering data-driven videos in real estate, our journey reflects the power of embracing change and taking risks. I want people to know they can break free from unfulfilling paths. Zentap’s story is a testament to the incredible power of taking chances and having faith in yourself.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Zentap was never part of the original plan; it started as a side hustle while I was on the path to becoming a real estate agent. Leaving law school opened the door to an internship where my team and I noticed gaps in real estate marketing.
From a garage startup, Zentap took off. We automated data-driven content for real estate professionals, and in just two months, we had 60 clients. Milestones, like pioneering data-driven videos, marked our journey.
What was once a side gig is now my full-time career. Zentap’s evolution underscores the importance of seizing unexpected opportunities and adapting in our professional journeys.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A key lesson I had to unlearn was the notion that failure is a setback rather than a stepping stone to growth. Early on, I associated failure with defeat, a signal to abandon the path I was on. The backstory lies in my early career endeavors.
Initially, setbacks and mistakes would demoralize me, pushing me to reconsider my choices. However, over time, I came to realize that each failure was an opportunity to learn, pivot, and improve. Unlearning the fear of failure allowed me to view it as an integral part of the journey, providing valuable lessons that contribute to personal and professional development. Embracing this mindset shift has been transformative, allowing me to navigate challenges with resilience and use failures as fuel for progress.
