We were lucky to catch up with Sormeh Attarzadeh recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sormeh, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Growing up, I was surrounded by the idea that the right path involved going to college and finding a stable job. It’s what everyone expected, and honestly, it’s what I thought I wanted too. But deep down, I began to realize that I was following a script that wasn’t truly mine. So, taking a deep breath, I decided to step away from law school. The surprising part? My parents and my closest friends were incredibly supportive.
Then came an opportunity that turned out to be a game-changer. I got the chance to intern with a real estate entrepreneur. Little did I know that this seemingly small decision would open up a whole new world for me. Working alongside this entrepreneur, I got to see firsthand the exciting ways real estate and technology were coming together.
In our group, a bunch of millennials with shared interests, we spotted something interesting. The world of real estate marketing seemed stuck in the past, relying on old-fashioned tools. We had a hunch that our mix of skills could be part of the solution. And so, we gave birth to the idea of Zentap – a venture aimed at modernizing how real estate professionals market their properties by bringing in some much-needed efficiency.
Zentap, our brainchild, turned into a software solution that combined the strengths of technology with the nuances of real estate marketing. This clever tool automated the creation and sharing of data-driven content, making it easier for real estate professionals across the United States to navigate the complexities of social media marketing. Through Zentap, countless clients got the hang of digital marketing and built strategies to grow their businesses.
Our journey was like sailing into the unknown – full of excitement, a bit of uncertainty, and a lot of learning. We saw the industry shift from traditional door-knocking to the digital realm of social media leads. It’s been a journey peppered with successes, but what truly keeps us going is the vast canvas of unexplored opportunities on the horizon.
This experience has taught me that sometimes, straying from the usual path – even if it makes you a tad nervous – can lead to discoveries that reshape your life in unexpected and fulfilling ways.

So, what makes us tick? It’s our smart software. It’s like a teammate for real estate folks, so they can focus on selling homes. And guess what? We were one of the first to use data for videos in real estate. It’s awesome to see our clients shine.
Our journey? Started in a garage – brainstorming and calling realtors. We didn’t have all the answers, but our first customers kept us going. We put everything into building a great team. And guess what? In just 6-12 months, we were rocking with 150k MRR.
Sure, we faced bumps, but we learned lots and became leaders. Our team stayed positive through it all.
What gets me smiling? Our brand. We’re not just a solution – we’re innovators. Our way of marketing, always pushing forward, stands out. Our clients trust us because of that.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
To this day, I find it astonishing that I managed to secure our company’s very first deal. What’s even more surprising is that I had absolutely no prior experience in sales! The conversation had a light and amusing tone, and I didn’t even realize that the client had agreed to give our services a try. Back then, my expectations were minimal, especially as we were working out of a cold garage with the sound of crickets as our backdrop. But it was in that moment that I discovered my passion for sales. Providing a service that could genuinely assist someone’s real estate journey felt incredibly gratifying. I took immense pleasure in offering a solution to our client’s marketing challenges.
