We were lucky to catch up with Soraya Bowen recently and have shared our conversation below.
Soraya , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s kick things off with a hypothetical question – if it were up to you, what would you change about the school or education system to better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career?
If I could change the education system, I would focus on integrating more real-world skills into the curriculum to better prepare students for both their careers and personal lives. This would include financial literacy, communication skills, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking. I believe students should also have more opportunities for hands-on learning, like internships, apprenticeships, and project-based work, starting from a younger age. Additionally, I would advocate for more personalized education paths, where students can explore their interests and strengths earlier on, helping them discover what they are passionate about and how they can translate that into a fulfilling career.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Soraya, and I’m a licensed real estate professional based in Atlanta, Georgia, and Los Angeles, California. My journey into real estate started with a deep passion for helping people and watching my mother work in her career as an interior and architectural designer. With a background in marketing and PR, I bring a unique perspective to real estate, focusing not just on transactions but on building lasting relationships and delivering personalized experiences.
I specialize in working with athletes, first-time home buyers, and investors, understanding their unique needs and lifestyles. My services go beyond just buying and selling properties—I assist my clients in navigating the complexities of real estate in two of the most competitive markets in the U.S. Whether it’s finding a private, luxurious residence in Los Angeles or a smart investment opportunity in Atlanta, I’m dedicated to providing solutions that align with my clients’ goals and lifestyles. What sets me apart is my commitment to a client-centric approach. I recognize that every client’s situation is unique, and I tailor my strategies to meet their specific needs. My dual-market expertise in Atlanta and Los Angeles allows me to offer insights and opportunities that others might overlook.
My background in marketing enables me to showcase properties in a way that resonates with potential buyers, making sure they stand out in the market.
I’m most proud of the trust and relationships I’ve built with my clients over the years. It’s incredibly rewarding to guide someone through one of the most significant decisions of their life and see the joy and satisfaction it brings. I’m also proud of my ability to merge my love for real estate with my skills in marketing and PR, creating a seamless experience for my clients.
For anyone considering working with me, know that my primary goal is to make your real estate journey as smooth and successful as possible. I’m passionate about what I do, and I’m always looking for ways to innovate and improve the experience for my clients. Whether you’re an athlete, a professional couple, or someone looking for a trusted partner in real estate, I’m here to provide the expertise, guidance, and support you need.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of referrals and networking.
Word of mouth has been incredibly powerful in bringing new clients my way. When clients have a positive experience, they naturally share it with their friends, family, and colleagues. I make it a priority to build strong relationships with my clients, ensuring they feel supported and satisfied throughout the entire process.
Networking has also played a significant role in growing my client base. Whether it’s attending industry events, engaging in community activities, or participating in professional groups, I make it a point to connect with others who might need my services or know someone who does.
Although I still struggle with social media, I try to maintain a strong online presence, which has helped attract new clients. By sharing valuable content, insights, and updates on social media, I’ve been able to reach a broader audience. This not only helps potential clients find me but also builds trust and credibility even before we connect.
These strategies have been key in consistently bringing in new clients and growing my business.
Any advice for managing a team?
Encourage open and honest communication within the team. By creating an environment where people can share their ideas, concerns, and feedback without fear of judgment, you can ensure everyone feels heard and valued.
Ensure that each team member understands their role and responsibilities, as well as how their work contributes to the team’s overall goals.
Create a supportive and inclusive work environment where teamwork is encouraged, and diversity is celebrated. Building a culture of mutual respect and collaboration helps maintain high morale and can lead to greater team cohesion.
As a leader, your attitude and behavior set the tone for the team. Demonstrate the values and work ethic you want to see in your team and be approachable and supportive. Showing empathy and understanding, especially during challenging times, can inspire loyalty and trust.
Encourage a healthy work-life balance by being mindful of workloads and promoting breaks, time off, and flexible work arrangements. When team members feel supported in their well-being, they’re more likely to stay motivated and productive.
