Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sora Gazzaneo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sora, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
Michie Productions came to me over the course of time. It was a long road of honing my skills and figuring out what it truly was that drove my passion towards digital media. For 10 years I worked in the restaurant industry as my “day time job,” that showed me my passion for working with people. Through the course of those 10 years I also attended the University of Houston. I studied Communications with an emphasis in Media Production. I was really able to explore a wide range of production, from Television, photography, cinema, the history of films, script writing, tech work, lighting, and all the different stages of production. It was a lot of information to receive. Once I graduated I was left with all this information and not a clear direction of where to head. So I continued working my day time job and would do digital media here and there. One day after another of the same repetitive things in the restaurant industry, I started to think, “What can I do that is more down the lines of my passion. I love working with people, but serving isn’t fulfilling me the way that creating something out of nothing does.” That’s when I started to create the idea of Michie Productions, a multi digital media service company. Where I would be working for myself and creating the art that my soul was craving while still interacting with people. It really launched off once I finalized the logo back in January 2021. Since then it’s only grown. I know that it’s something worth investing my time and money into because I look around and I see photos and videos everywhere. That only means that my business can only grow with the society that we’re in today. With time and experience I’ve gone from booking one shoot a month to one shoot a week, and in a couple of months it’ll only expand.
Sora, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As I said before Michie Productions is a multi media digital company. What does that mean? Michie Productions offers a wide range of services: photography, videography, & graphic design. As an artist I focus on expanding my creativity and experience with every shoot that I do. I create a safe space where my clients/models are able to feel comfortable and confident. One thing I’ve learned through time is that being a photographer/videographer you have to know how to work with people. You can have the best equipment in the world but if your model or actor doesn’t feel comfortable, you still wouldn’t be able to get a good shot. Emotions can be perceived through the final work, which is why I find it so important to create that safe & comfortable space.
Since Michie Productions offers those multi services that also means that we are able to work on helping small businesses build up their brand image. Creating logos, flyers, business cards, reels, profile photos, and engaging content for the public based on your small business and the message that you’re trying to convey.
Also offering event coverage with photos that capture the moment forever, and videos that bring back those highlights of the event.
If you’re looking for a private studio experience, Michie Productions offers that as well. With an apartment home studio, that includes professional lighting, backdrops, and guided poses. Whether its professional headshots, or a treat for you on your birthday. Or even if you love to cosplay it’s the perfect place to pose like your favorite character without having to worry about those watchful eyes.
Michie Productions also creates music videos for the musicians that are out there looking to collaborate.
A wide range of services for all those that have a vision that want to make it a reality.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
The internet is filled with so much knowledge now a days that it’s easy to learn anything and everything that one is seeking. A huge help in my journey has been online courses such as Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, and Googles Digital Courses that they offer on marketing.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I was really stubborn to working with what I thought was “mid” equipment when I was younger. I would see online all these film makers and photographers with really amazing cameras, and a really expensive lens, and I would think, “That’s what I need to get there!” Little did I know, that they started right where I was back then. I was being stubborn to the point where it held me back from my own potential. It would keep me from going out there and filming or photographing anything, which would keep me from practicing, which would keep my work from evolving, and my experience from growing. With time I became very aware of this and started to just work with my cellphone. From there it evolved into a camera, and now to a good camera with a good lens. I still have so much more equipment that I want to invest in, but I don’t let it hold me back from doing what I love anymore. In fact I allow it to motivate me, to keep pushing to grow and evolve.
