We recently connected with Sophie Pace and have shared our conversation below.
Sophie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
VILLA JOY, my home, a studio space and gathering place, located in the inspiring, quaint and historic town of Alderson, WV, is now a most meaningful project…and is NOW OPEN for visitors…
Just 30-seconds from the lackadaisical and sometimes torrid Greenbrier River, this main location is also connected to 5 other global satellite Villa Joy locations in England and the USA…
It is a place of creative and individual intentions rather than goals…
In the perspective of personal coach, Kyle Cease, he explains, “a goal is something you can understand. An intention is defining and aiming toward an ongoing expansion. An intention is in this moment. A goal is an outcome. An intention is an internal direction.”
As an artist and writer, I have in the past been very goal oriented and often influenced by my “shoulds”…I was pretty certain that Villa Joy had to be on Lake Erie, being born in Cleveland, Ohio…
After “getting out of my own way” regarding the “shoulds” in several areas of resistance in my Life, I have seen major shifts take place…one of them being my relocation on July 1st, 2022, to West Virginia from the Midwest….
I see chances for unspoken, unimagined and unfathomed possibilities for anyone through Villa Joy…
I have always suggested to people, “Tell ‘em what you got, not what you ain’t got!” …Now is the time to explore “what you’ve got” from a deeper perspective….
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I was nearly born with a brush and/or pen in my hand…and have gleaned much joy from creating…
My intention is to help others cast off stagnation, fear and bindings…
I recognize that I could keep painting and writing forever…and I probably will…
It is now the moment in time to open Villa Joy’s doors to other seekers…
A close friend always told me that “You Are Villa Joy !”
He is correct…
My intention for inner expansion is for anyone who’s tired of their “sameness” …and who doesn’t recognize their inner Villa Joy, to find me…
As a raconteur with many stories to tell, I am here for loose guidance, inspiration and possibilities…
I am here to reflect people’s untapped genius and inner knowing…I am here to foster joviality and enjoyment…
What makes me happiest is recognizing how simple the process is when one is open to taking just one small step to the right of where one knows themselves to live…
I’m happy to be taking new steps myself…
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I once spent an unexpected and entirely too cold, too frosty and too disconcerting evening in a red phone booth in London…
There I was, sitting on my suitcase because the bus station closed early to my surprise, and I was miles from the airport with a very tiny and scant budget !…
I spent as much time as possible going to and from in the lobby of a posh and nearby hotel…So much so that I was FEELING very uncomfortable and out-of-place, afraid that an employee would ask if I needed assistance…
It’s funny as I look back from a more mature perspective…
Had I explained the situation, who knows what possibility other than standing in a phone booth for 6 hours, might have arisen !…
I felt pretty resilient by morning as I headed to the now-open bus terminal !…
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish I had been better at asking for help in times of fear…
