We recently connected with Sophie Hunter and have shared our conversation below.
Sophie, appreciate you joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Our company is called Sorella Creative. We’re a boutique social media creative marketing agency offering services including social media, influencer marketing, content creation and graphic design to small businesses and brands in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle space.
Naming Sorella was easy! I searched for words that translate to sister in other languages, and settled on Italian as it sounded beautiful.
I want Sorella to be a sisterhood. For customers, clients and followers to think of the Sorella team as sisters. In life, how a big sister would teach you everything you need to know about growing up in the world, we want to play that role within social media, teaching people and businesses all over the world how to achieve their goals with the help of social media.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Throughout my school years I found a flair for all things creative – especially in digital format (e.g. graphic design) as unfortunately I’m not gifted artistically when it comes to using my hands! I loved using Photoshop and InDesign to create digital art and build out digital publications.
Then when it came time to choose a degree at university, I’d recently started studying psychology at my school and decided I wanted to pursue a career as a counsellor. I’ve always wanted to help people (and I guess that desire has kind of come full circle now, which is nice).
Whilst at university, I took a couple of part time jobs in the fashion industry and social media really hadn’t exploded just yet – influencers didn’t exist as they do today, and the notion of “working in social media” was completely unheard of. However, as these things grew and became more prevalent, I dabbled in them at my fashion industry jobs and really enjoyed them.
So much so, that by the time I graduated I’d decided that I actually wanted to pursue a career in social media marketing instead!
I moved to a new city, bagged my first job… and never looked back! That was seven years ago, and in that time I’ve worked for some incredible global fashion, beauty and lifestyle brands, travelled the world and had SO much fun doing it.
At the start of 2022, I decided to take a chance on my dreams and I left my full-time role managing a social team at a fast fashion brand, and stepped out by myself as Sorella Creative. A boutique social media creative marketing agency offering support to small businesses and brands. We look after all things social media, influencer marketing, content creation and graphic design. I’ve had a whirlwind first year with Sorella Creative and I can’t wait to see what’s next in store!

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I’m a suuuuper visual person so… seeing the hard work on a shoot result in some incredible engaging reels, or seeing an instagram feed look gorgeous and represent a brand inside and out after spending hours developing their branding and graphic styles. Things like that.
How do you keep your team’s morale high?
I’ve been lucky enough to lead and manage multiple teams over my career so far, and my biggest piece of advice is to get to know them individually. That may sound like the most obvious thing in the world, but every person is different. They are motivated by different rewards, they have different learning styles, they have different strengths and weaknesses. A one size fits all approach to managing a team of multiple people will never work.
