We were lucky to catch up with Sophie Bequette recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sophie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Owning my own plant shop has been a dream of mine ever since I walked into my first greenhouse. The inspiration to open up a mobile plant shop is rooted in the idea of bringing my favorite greenhouse experiences to others!
“Miss Folia” represents the version of myself that chose to go after the life I have always dreamed of. A quote I am often reminded of goes, “To live is the rarest thing in the world; most people just exist.”-Oscar Wilde. I believe our lives should be filled with passion and the freedom to be able to do so. Creating Miss Folia has been nothing short of a dream, and I know the journey is only just beginning.
My mission at Miss Folia is to lead with authenticity and my passion for plants to allow me to build genuine connections with anyone I encounter.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My obsession for plants started a few years back, and I was instantly hooked! I was quickly fascinated with their beauty, growing patterns, and their effects on my mental health. I fell in love with having something to nurture and to watch grow, and my room quickly turned into a jungle.
Fast forward a few years and my love for plants had only grown. I have always said that the 9-5 lifestyle wasn’t meant for me. I knew that I was meant to create and connect with new people and to use what I’m passionate about to do so. I resonate with a quote from Oscar Wilde that goes, “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people just exist.” This is why I dropped everything last November and began creating a business that allows me to do exactly what I love everyday.
Miss Folia is a mobile plant shop that wants to bring a unique experience to anyone we meet! Our shop provides a wide variety of houseplants- alongside the 100+ different types of plants we grow, we also sell handmade macrame and crochet plant hangers, homemade soil, foliage spray, and more.
The idea of a mobile plant shop fascinated me because I wanted to be able to create a pop up, walk in experience that is memorable and has that “awe” effect when people get to see all of the plants.
Miss Folia is brand new and we are just getting started. What started as just a mobile business has grown to also have an online store, part of a store front on Historic Main Street in St. Charles MO, called 337 by La Roserie, and now offering services! Miss Folia offers weekly plant care, plant rehabilitation services, and home and business interior designing with plants!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I love listening to podcasts to better my mindset, how I look at potential opportunities or failures, and how other businesses have gotten started. I personally love listening to The Mindset Mentor.
Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Miss Folia has the mobile pop up shops on the weekends, a storefront location Tuesday through Sunday, I sell from my website, and then the planty services and design services are additional forms of income as well!
