Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sophia Wasu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sophia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
As a mom of three, I started my Instagram of food pictures as a hobby that would be just for me. The spoon pictures started as a joke because I would take a bite of my husband’s food and would manage to get part of the whole meal onto one bite. Thus, a quick spoon pictures were born.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a busy mom of three and concentrated on making quick and easy meals. My main circle of recipes are around dump cakes of all different flavors. I learned my first cake from my neighbor when I was young and then over the years adjusted the ingredients to invent all new flavors combinations. When Covid hit I started on this thing called tiktok and it seemed to resonate with my audience. Two years later, here we are. I am most proud of making a lifelong dream come true when I published my first cookbook.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Word of mouth. I think when people share my videos and recipes because they have tried them and loved them, it validates that the recipes are easy and delicious and they forward my page to others.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I think my main audience came from steady consistency and authenticity. I would video mainly what we were making at home and I think letting people in your lives everyday makes them see what you’re really about. I didn’t just focus on only recipes, I would talk about my day, or what was going on in my life, good and bad.
