We recently connected with Sophia Mayer Pliner and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sophia, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I just worked on which was Periodical. It is an eye-opening documentary that examines science, politics, and mystery of the menstrual cycle, through the experiences of doctors, athletes, movie stars, journalists, activists, and everyday people. It was a MSNBC project directed by Lina Plioplyte. This movie really helps answer all those questions and helps men know more about what ladies go through. Super informative and educational, that is why I am proud and means a lot to have been cast a role in this documentary.

Sophia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Sure, I started as a Carter’s Baby, That started the ball rolling and from there I have worked on a lot of movies, commercials, Documentaries, student projects, PSA’s, T,V Shows and music videos. When I was 3, I was booked on a Progressive Car Commercial that was the most aired commercial in the US for that year. Was funny the commercial, with the rate suckers, who jumped on a car I was riding in and I start crying with my Actress mom driving. I have a wonderful Agent and always investing in classes currently studying Music Theatre Junior at a Professional School for the Arts.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is that the entire projects are composed of so many talented creative people. From lighting to camera, wardrobe to writers, all these people are creative. You can dream, imagine and come up with ideas that are rewarded for uniqueness, color and originality. To be able to express and create with others, provides entertainment and revenue, while still being work, it’s like a game of fun.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Like anything social media and your presence is based on what you put out there. Like the word Social implies, it’s important not only the content but also comments, interactions, messages and conversations posts can create. It’s following fellow artist in support on social media, engaging with them as they do with me. Also the quality of what you post, not to post just to post. Important what you are saying and showing, people love behind the scenes and seeing all the new projects. Keeping everything exciting and interesting is important, quality versus quantity.
