We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sophia M. Johnson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sophia M. below.
Sophia M. , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
What did my parents do right? First, let me start by saying I grew up in a single parent household however I didn’t know that this was considered a not so good thing. I knew who my father was and I never heard my mother speak ill of him (that’s the first thing I learned). She allowed me to draw my own conclusions concerning his and my relationship.
My mother was a caring and kind woman who would give you her very last. She had an open door policy with everyone. Many would drop their kids off to her knowing that they had nothing to worry about. So, I’ve patterned my life after her with the help of the Lord; to be a person who others could trust with their lives knowing they wouldn’t have to worry about hearing it from someone else. The Lord has given me a gift to be trustworthy enough for others to be vulnerable and transparent with me. This is an important part of my business. My dad has taught me to meet people where they are. It is rare that you’ll find two people who are on the same level and that’s perfectly fine. We all must mature at the pace that is best for us.
The last 6 to 7 months of my mother’s life were pivotal to who I am today. She had so much STRENGTH.
She went through the hardest time of her LIFE, LIVELY. We grew closer and she taught me so many important life lessons. At the time, they made no sense to me.
Now I understand what she was saying. I know that life can throw you so many curveballs. It’s not about the curveballs, but rather the way you handle the curveballs.
Don’t allow them to make you bitter and resentful. Had I understood that so many years ago, I think I would have been better off. Alas, I took the scenic route with all the BUMPS. The CURVES. The GLASS. The SUICIDE ATTEMPTS. Looking for LOVE in ALL the WRONG PLACES.
Looking for the love I use to share with her. My heart was missing a vital piece and I had no idea what to do. She was only THIRTY-SIX and I was only TWELVE!!!
So, throughout childhood and my early adulthood my parents did some things right that have truly impacted the ministry and business the Lord has given me.
Sophia M. , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a wife, mother, Apostle, and author born and raised in Alabama. I love to write, sing, dance, and have fun with my family. I enjoy encouraging my children and others to be who they were created to be; to never allow anything or anyone stop them. Inspiring women and men all over the world to live and love themselves inside out. Using the word of God, poetry, short stories and personal experiences to help educate people from all walks of life to use past lessons as a growth tool to mold their future.
I grew up in ministry and I guess it should have come as no surprise that the Lord would have me to follow suit. It began with sending out text messages to friends and family with encouragement coupled with scripture. Then a non-profit organization, now an LLC that offers coaching and consulting. I wasn’t ready for the big things that were prepared for me so I took baby steps. Offering my services for free because I didn’t understand the value of myself and what I had to share with others.
It wasn’t until my first paying client that I knew and understood the worth of the coaching sessions. The Lord had given me something that set me apart from others. I didn’t operate like most coaches. Every session and client was unique even though the questions they answered were the same; how I had to approach them was completely different. There was no cookie cutter one size fits all over here. I had to learn that quickly. That is how Sophia Johnson Ministries, LLC was born. The Lord told me it was time. No longer hiding. No longer be undervalued. No longer being scared to be who I was created to be. I must walk boldly and confidently in my purpose.
One of the main services we offer is with Wives & Wives in Waiting Coaching and Accountability. This is an area where you’ll receive the tools you need to operate as a Godly wife through Spiritual Development from God’s Word. Through group and individual sessions. This is a group about wives & wives in waiting being accountable and held to the standards in which God want us to be as wives. How do we go forward as godly wives? Is it time for us to get back in position? What is my foundation of marriage built on? Getting back to the basics. Oftentimes how we walked into the marriage doesn’t line up with how it was written in scripture for us; we have to realign ourselves with the Word of God. This is one of our weekly discussions: having a solid foundation even if we have to back track.
Sophia Johnson Ministries (SJM), is an international ministry set out to give people the tools needed to become fit in every area of their life with Biblical Principles through Spiritual Development Coaching and Consulting.
Sophia says….
“In order to strengthen our relationship with God
we must allow our CORE to be matured by the Word of God.”
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe what helped build my reputation was the testimonials of the clientele and the ability to be personable with the client. I also believe it could be that working with me isn’t like working with any other coach. Every session/encounter is tailor made for each individual.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
I’ve received new clients based on word of mouth from previous clients. It has proven to be the best source for my business thus far.
