We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sophia Love. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sophia below.
Alright, Sophia thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success, in my view, comes down to a combination of resilience, self-awareness, and consistent effort. It’s less about a perfect plan and more about how well you adapt when things don’t go according to plan.
One story that illustrates this idea is about a woman named Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx. She started with no background in fashion or business and was selling fax machines door to door. What made her successful wasn’t a huge financial investment or industry connections—it was her persistence. She had a simple idea: cut the feet off pantyhose to wear under white pants. She took her savings, created a prototype, and faced countless rejections. Most manufacturers wouldn’t even meet with her. But she kept pushing, learned how to pitch, and eventually landed her product in Neiman Marcus and on Oprah’s Favorite Things. That changed everything.
The takeaway? Success often comes from people who believe in something strongly enough to keep going even when no one else gets it yet. They’re not necessarily the smartest or the most connected—they’re the ones who are stubborn enough not to quit, and flexible enough to grow.
For me personally, I’ve found that success also means defining what you want, not just chasing what others admire. If your version of success is inner peace, creative freedom, or time with your family—then your effort should align with that. It’s about being honest with yourself and consistent in your actions.

Sophia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Sophia So Smooth—a creative entrepreneur, influencer, and personal brand built on authenticity, confidence, and unapologetic femininity. Whether you’ve just discovered me or have been following my journey, I’m excited to share who I am, how I got here, and what my work is all about.
✨ How I Got Into My Craft
I started my journey not by chasing clout, but by tapping into what made me feel confident, beautiful, and empowered. My early content came from a genuine place of self-expression—sharing beauty routines, outfit inspo, and personal takes on relationships, growth, and lifestyle. What started as something small on social media slowly turned into a real platform, and then a brand.
As my following grew, I realized I had an opportunity not just to entertain, but to inspire people to feel comfortable in their own skin, live boldly, and take up space—especially women of color and people who are often underrepresented or told to “tone it down.”
💼 What I Do
I’m a content creator, brand collaborator, and lifestyle influencer. My work blends beauty, fashion, relationship talk, self-love, and raw realness. You’ll find me:
Sharing reels and stories that spark confidence and joy
Modeling and promoting beauty, haircare, or fashion brands I genuinely vibe with
Creating content that’s both entertaining and empowering
Hosting events or partnering with brands that align with my energy and values
Mentoring or encouraging up-and-coming creators who want to build with purpose
💡 What I Offer
Through my content and brand partnerships, I provide:
Relatable lifestyle content that makes people feel seen
A platform for visibility—especially for brands that align with confidence, beauty, and realness
Inspiration for self-confidence—whether through style, energy, or presence
A space for unfiltered conversation about things others are scared to say
I don’t just sell a product—I create a vibe and help brands reach people with personality. My audience trusts me because I’m not putting on an act. I show up fully, and that’s what connects.
🌟 What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is my authenticity. I don’t filter my personality to fit in. I say what I mean, I show up how I want, and I let people see the good, the glam, and sometimes the gritty. That honesty resonates. I’m not chasing trends—I’m making people feel like they can be the trend.
I’m also incredibly intentional with my platform. I’m not just looking for likes. I care about impact, community, and energy. Every post, collab, or campaign I take on is something I stand behind.
🏆 What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of the community I’ve built—a group of people who support each other, laugh together, heal together, and hype each other up. I’m proud that I can walk into a room (or your feed) and remind someone of their power, just by being myself.
I’m also proud of the moments where I turned nothing into something—when I had no team, no big platform, no connections—and still made a name for myself just by staying consistent, creative, and confident.
❤️ What I Want You to Know
If you’re a brand looking to partner: know that I bring real engagement, creative vision, and a bold, magnetic energy that makes your brand pop.
If you’re a follower or fan: know that I see you, I appreciate you, and I’m rooting for you just like you’re rooting for me.
If you’re just getting to know me: know that “So Smooth” isn’t just a name—it’s a whole vibe. It’s about moving with grace, strength, and style, no matter what life throws your way.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I never thought I’d be telling this part of my story—but here I am. Because truth is, life doesn’t ask for permission before it shifts your entire reality.
A while back, I was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy, a condition that causes sudden, temporary weakness or paralysis on one side of the face. It hit me out of nowhere. One day, I was just being my usual vibrant self—filming content, smiling for the camera, feeling cute—and the next, I was waking up with part of my face not moving. My smile felt foreign. My reflection didn’t feel like me.
At first, I was scared. Confused. Embarrassed even. As someone whose brand is rooted in confidence, presence, and appearance, it was terrifying to lose control over something so personal—my face. The way I expressed joy, laughter, even attitude—all of it shifted overnight.
But here’s what Bell’s Palsy taught me:
💡 I Am So Much More Than a Pretty Face
Yes, I love beauty, fashion, and giving face. But when that got taken from me temporarily, I realized that my power wasn’t just in how I looked—it was in how I showed up.
Even when I didn’t feel “camera ready,” I started speaking my truth anyway. I shared the raw moments. The ugly-cry days. The silent battles. And what I got back? Love. Support. Messages from people who finally felt seen. My vulnerability made space for healing—not just mine, but others’.
🧘🏽♀️ Healing Takes Time—And Grace
I had to learn patience. Bell’s Palsy doesn’t heal overnight. There were days I had to massage my face, train my muscles, and remind myself that progress is progress—no matter how small. It taught me to listen to my body, to slow down, to rest, and to find beauty in the quiet moments.
🌈 Turning Pain Into Purpose
What I thought was a setback actually became one of the most powerful parts of my story. Because through it all, I never lost who I was—I actually found deeper strength.
Now, I use my platform not just to be cute, but to be real. To talk about things people are afraid to show online. I still slay, I still serve, but I do it now with even more purpose. Because I know what it’s like to feel like you’re losing control—and I also know what it’s like to fight your way back to yourself.
🦋 If You’re Going Through It…
If you’re dealing with Bell’s Palsy or any health condition that’s shaking your identity, hear me when I say this: You are still whole. You are still worthy. And this moment does not define your forever.
I’m living proof that beauty, power, and purpose can rise from the most unexpected places. My face tells a story now—and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
With love and strength,
– Sophia So Smooth

How did you build your audience on social media?
People ask me all the time:
“Sophia, how did you grow your audience?”
Let me be real with you—it wasn’t luck, and it definitely wasn’t overnight. It took intention, authenticity, and a whole lot of consistency.
Let me walk you through how I really did it.
✨ 1. I Led With Personality Before Perfection
I didn’t start with a brand team or a blueprint. I started by being myself—loud, loving, unfiltered, and full of energy. I knew if I showed up real, the right people would feel that. I leaned into my natural charisma, sense of humor, and confidence, and I didn’t try to “tone it down” to fit in with anyone else’s idea of how an influencer should act.
People didn’t follow me because I was perfect—they followed me because I was real.
📹 2. I Created Content That Felt Like Conversation
From day one, I treated my followers like community, not just an audience. I talked to them like they were sitting on my couch. Whether I was doing a GRWM (get ready with me), talking relationships, or sharing a vulnerable moment, I made sure it felt personal.
I didn’t just “post.” I connected. That’s what keeps people coming back.
🔄 3. I Showed Up Consistently
You can’t grow if people forget you exist. I committed to posting regularly—reels, stories, lives, and static posts. Even on days I wasn’t 100%, I still showed up in some form, because I believe energy is contagious. I wanted my followers to feel like they could depend on me to bring that spark.
Even during my Bell’s Palsy journey, I stayed visible. I didn’t go ghost. I showed the ups and the downs, and people respected that even more.
💡 4. I Paid Attention to What Worked
I studied my own content. I watched what my audience responded to—what got shared, commented on, saved. I learned that:
My voice (literally and figuratively) was a superpower
People loved when I talked about confidence, self-worth, and femininity
Reels with storytelling or advice hit different
Behind-the-scenes moments built even deeper trust
I used that insight to create more of what felt authentic and impactful.
🤝 5. I Collaborated With Purpose
As my platform grew, I started connecting with other creators and brands—but I never said yes just to get a check or clout. I made sure everything aligned with my energy, values, and vibe.
I also wasn’t afraid to network organically—supporting others, sharing their work, and building community without expecting something in return. That love came back around, every time.
🌍 6. I Built A Brand Around Confidence & Realness
The reason people stay is because my platform isn’t just about me—it’s about how I make them feel. I created a brand that celebrates:
Bold femininity
Unapologetic confidence
Real conversations
Vulnerability and glow-ups
People follow me because I remind them that they can be soft and strong, sexy and smart, raw and radiant.
📈 Final Word: The Growth Was Earned, Not Given
The key to building my social media audience wasn’t going viral one time—it was being consistent with my truth over time. I didn’t try to be who I thought the algorithm wanted. I was Sophia So Smooth, every day. And I still am.
So whether you’re a brand, a fellow creator, or someone just starting out—know this: your uniqueness is your power. If you show up with purpose, and stay real through every phase of the journey, your people will find you. Just like mine found me.
