Sophia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
When I was brainstorming a name for my bridal hair and makeup business, I was chatting with a coworker at my corporate job. I knew I wanted a name that included “beauty” and reflected Kansas City. As I thought about it, I couldn’t help but think of my daughter, Gracelyn. That’s how “Graceful Beauty KC” came to be – named after my daughter.

I’m the founder of Graceful Beauty KC, and my journey into the bridal hair and makeup industry was truly a labor of love. My fascination with the world of beauty and my deep connection to Kansas City inspired me to carve out my own niche in this field.
At Graceful Beauty KC, we have contractors who offer a range of services, bridal, hair cuts/colors, hair extensions, lash extensions, lash lifts/tints, Reiki Services and more. Our main specialty is bridal hair and makeup. We understand that a wedding day is one of the most significant moments in a person’s life, and our mission is to make brides feel absolutely radiant and confident on their special day. We specialize in creating stunning bridal looks that capture each individual’s unique style and personality.
Our approach is deeply client-centric. We believe in getting to know our clients, their vision, and their preferences. We then tailor our services to match their desires, whether it’s a classic, romantic look or a more modern and edgy style. Our team of talented professionals works tirelessly to ensure that each bride feels like the best version of themselves.
What sets us apart at Graceful Beauty KC is not only our commitment to enhancing natural beauty but also our dedication to making the entire experience enjoyable and stress-free. We provide on-location services, meaning we come to you, making the morning of your wedding as relaxed and convenient as possible. However, starting in December we will also have a Studio where you can come to us if you don’t have a space to get ready at or if your venue doesn’t allow you enough time. Our attention to detail and our ability to connect with our clients on a personal level are qualities we take immense pride in.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
One of the most impactful strategies for expanding my clientele has undoubtedly been enlisting the guidance of a business coach. This decision stands as the best I’ve made for my business, and here’s why.

Referrals are a testament to the exceptional experiences our previous clients have had with us. When a bride shares her wedding day glow with her friends and family, it creates a ripple effect of trust. Those personal endorsements carry a unique weight and authenticity that no advertisement can replicate.
Referrals from vendors are a huge testament too because we work directly with them and to have them refer their clients to us speaks volumes. For example, photographers refer clients to us because they know the quality they get with us because they won’t have to do a lot of touch-ups in the photos since we use quality products.
In addition to referrals, our presence on platforms like TheKnot, WeddingWire, and Zola has expanded our reach and allowed us to connect with couples who are actively seeking bridal beauty services. These online platforms provide a convenient way for engaged couples to discover and learn more about us, read reviews, and view our portfolio.
By leveraging both referrals and our online presence, we’ve been able to create a dynamic synergy that has consistently brought new clients through our doors. It’s a testament to the power of combining the personal touch of recommendations with the broader visibility of online advertising.
