Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sonia Osio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sonia, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The Global Mandela was my most meantingful and challenging art project I have ever done. The global mandela was born out of a conversation I had with my 12 yr old grandson who was very concerned about the state of the world. From this moment I decided to turn things around and show people there is still hope in the world.
We started talking about how we could make a change, I was making mandelas at this time. I wanted to reach people who were doing different things in their communities to raise awarenss about what they were doing, The first people we reached out to were people who were already bringing hope to people who needed hope. We asked them what is your hope for humanity?
Our first group who responded to us was a group from Bosnia and Herzegoniina.
This project is meaningful to me because through art we are able to recieve messages of hope from around the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a woman who loves to explore and spread art in all mediums. Art is in my bones. Its who I am.
I want everyone from children to adults from rich or poor to express there life through art. , I believe in world peace and justice, I am following my life vision to bring art to as many people as I can. I grew up surrounded by art, and I have only known art all my life. I can take my art and use it to create many forms including installations.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes, I accomplished my goal and reached all 7 continents. my goal is to inspire as many people to think about hope and to act on hope.

When I started I had to wait for a long time to get an answer. It felt like months and months, but I knew they would come back to me, I knew in my heart. I had resilience in believing. ci I just waited and then they started to come in. The first one came in about 4 months later. And then they started to come in more often and regularly. It was the most exciting experience to receive all these circles from around the world with people’s handwritten messages of hope. From China to Australia to Bosnia to Morroca to Africa and Canada and more! I received mail regularly from all the 7 continents. Our goal was being realized. We were doing it. It was happening!
