We recently connected with Sonia Allison and have shared our conversation below.
Sonia, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think honesty and integrity are the pillars behind success:
In my profession, there is a common misconception that realtors are underhanded, dishonest, and just out for a paycheck. From the first day I started and in my life in general, honesty and transparency has always been incredibly important to me. Transferring this to real estate, I am always honest and upfront with my clients. If I feel that a certain house is not the best investment for them, I speak up. If other agents approach me with questions about a home I have listed, I am transparent and honest. I set out to treat all parties fairly and it has paid off for me ten fold! My clients continually thank me for being honest with them in house hunting or listing their homes and touch on my genuine personality as a huge factor in why they endorse me to their friends and family.
Here is a review from a past client: “”We knew that Sonia was an intelligent and dedicated agent who would do as much as she could to get us into the perfect home and she did just that. We had no reservations when we chose her to be our realtor.
Sonia was extremely honest and available whenever we needed her in regards to finding out information about a house or going to view a property. She was always there to answer any questions about paperwork or the process and if she didn’t know, she made sure to find out right away. When looking at houses, Sonia would often be the one to point out any abnormalities within the house and was always very honest with us. She always made sure to keep our best interest first and that we were staying within our price range and affordability.”

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
As a long time Houstonian, I am able to serve all my clients throughout the greater Houston area as a realtor.. I strive on providing the highest level of service to my clients to ensure that every detail is covered during the buying or selling process. I pride myself on staying current on market trends, continuing education, marketing strategies, and the latest tools in technology to best serve my clients. My buyers, sellers, and investors express their appreciation for my negotiation expertise, knowledge of the area, honesty, and ability to get them the best price for their home whether buying or selling.
As a child, I was able to travel the world while living overseas, which gives me the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I am an avid soccer player and sit on the board for the Houston Women’s Soccer Association. I like spending my free time listening to music, playing soccer, and relaxing with my family.
As a former elementary school teacher, I decided to transition into real estate and I have truly found my passion! I have had the pleasure of working for Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, the biggest brokerage in Houston for almost 7 years.
Before making my career switch, I was an elementary school teacher for 8 years. While I loved my students and cherished moments of teaching, my heart just was not in it anymore.
When I decided to make a dramatic career switch, I literally started real estate school the very next day after completing my last day educating. I decided that to make such a huge shift in careers, I was going to need to go into it with everything I had.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
I go above and beyond for my clients to give them the best care and service. Because I focus on customer care as my number one goal, my past clients have continued to refer me to their friends, family and coworkers. This has been my biggest source of new clients over the past few years.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Most of my audience on social media are past clients and my sphere of influence. My advice would be to not center your social media presence too much around yourself. Be yourself, be genuine, be present, and offer value. If you are just posting about yourself, your audience could tend to tune out and get bored. Make sure your content is relevant and vary it so that it is not all the same. A mix of business and pleasure is best.
