Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sondra Rubin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sondra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
I had a client with a chronic skin condition. He had eczema all over his face. When he came to see me, he was struggling with confidence, anger, frustration with his ability to manage his skin. He was constantly taking prescriptions medications, that weren’t really working. I remember at the end of the session, he looked at me as if I was a crazy person when I was giving him his protocol. But shockingly, he followed it and when he came back in and said his skin hasn’t felt this good since he was a kid. He scheduled a follow up with me about 6 months later, he told me he has changed his life. He’s meditating everyday now. It was so beautiful to experience how I was able to guide him to change his life and now he is so much more open to learning and receiving insight to continue to manage his long-term health.
I had a client, who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. She was going to the doctor every week for injections for pain management. When she came in to see me, she told me she needed these injections because she was a massage therapist and needed her hands to work otherwise she couldn’t do her job. She was also very concerned about her weight. She was 255 pounds when she started with me in September 2022 and is now 155 pounds September 2023. All natural, eating food. No starvation or measuring or counting calories. Resetting the digestion, supporting the body, reducing toxins in the body and she is health now. No more injections for pain either! To me, its just wild to see people heal – I’m helping them put health back into their hands.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was a CPA doing accounting work for over 15 years. I was working crazy hours over 60 hours per week. I had 2 small children and I had always struggled with skin, but then I got sick. I mean sick sick. I was told I had lupus an autoimmune disease that attacks the body, specifically the kidneys. I had to stop working and I was weak. There only solution were drugs to suppress my immune system and take 20 years off my life, and could cause blindness. At that time, my youngest daughter was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called Alopecia that causes hair loss. No one in our family had either of these diseases, so I just knew we were doing something fundamentally wrong with our health. At the time, I didn’t know what – I just knew it in my gut.
That’s when I started doing research. I changed our diets, and after I found ayurveda, it was a true game changer for me. 10 years later, my daughters hair is all intact, no reoccurrence. My autoimmune disease is managed, it has not progressed and I have no blood markers that indicate I have an autoimmune disease. Its a choice we make everyday to maintain our health and I love to help guide people to show them their is a way to maintain their health naturally.
I am so proud of the book I wrote specifically for Ayurvedic Practitioners to use as a visual guide called the Ayurvedic Practitioners Resource Guide – A Mind Map Guide and also I created a program called the Rubin Eczema Solution. Where I help people manage eczema naturally. Its a 12 week program and I am their guide through the whole process.
Can you talk to us about your experience with selling businesses?
I am in the process of selling my husbands business. I will say that has opened my eyes to business on a whole new level. Understanding, there needs to be processes and systems in order. There needs to be contracts that have proper verbiage. The accounting needs to be in order. All of theses things need to be presentable to a future buyer. Additionally, you have to look at your business as an entity that has value. A lot of people become intertwined emotionally with the business and skews your ability to sell it.
My business is a little different, but my goal is to get my business ready for sale at some point. There is no cookie cutter set up for my style of business currently, but I feel like I am in a position to make that happen because of my background and my passion for health.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I will say succeeding in my field is something I continue to strive for on a daily basis. I set clear intentions at the beginning of the year so my chances of success in my career, health, life are more attainable. I also know that success for some people is not a straight arrow up. It is sometimes, taking a step back in order to take a step forward 1 month from now. Its a series of trials and errors.
The main thing I would say is the mindset, you need a strong mind and it has to be something you work on daily. I meditate every single day for at least 10 – 20 minutes. But, I don’t get down on myself if I didn’t meditate that day for whatever reason, I may not have been able to – but when I do meditate I am more calm, able to focus, able to handle the stresses of the day in a better way. I am less angry, frustrated and forgiving to myself.
