We were lucky to catch up with Solomon Savoy recently and have shared our conversation below.
Solomon, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there an experience or lesson you learned at a previous job that’s benefited your career afterwards?
I would return to my Army days and stand up for myself despite being lower enlisted. I learned through the years that you can not allow people to run over you. If you give some people an inch, they will take a mile. At that point, I call it abuse in the workplace. I remember it like it was yesterday 125 degrees in Australia, and we were in the field trying to dig foxholes. Foxhole is a fighting position in the ground to protect you from enemies.
The sun was giving us business this day, and we were close to passing out. We could only dig for several minutes and had to rotate because of the extreme heat. I dug first and was taking a break when my SSG walked up and screamed at me for not digging. The heat will indeed make tempers flare, and this day was no different. When the SSG screamed at me, I started yelling back at him. For those who do not know how military ranks work, he was an SSG, and I was a PFC (Private First Class). This means he outranked me, and I should have just stood there.
We went back and forth, screaming at each other, and I eventually walked away. Even then, God protected me, and I did not know it. Some other soldiers in my section talked to the SSG and told him he was wrong for screaming at me. The soldiers explained to him that it was so hot that we could only dig for several minutes before taking a break. Not to mention that the boulders that were in the ground would allow us to go too deep.
I said all this to say that sometimes you must stand up for yourself, even in the workplace, family, friendships, and the church. There is a right and wrong way to stand up to someone, but you should always stand up for yourself. My SSG told me later that evening that he was in the wrong and apologized to me. He went on to say that get gained respect for me that day, and we became very close after that. What if I did not say anything that day and just let it happen?

Solomon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
During 2020 and after a recent layoff, God sat me down and gave me a vision for Faith Base Work Place LLC. I did not know it then, but it was a calling on my life to minister to others who have been abused or thought they were abuse victims. We have to remember that we fight from Victory and are not victims. I learned that I was not alone and the only one who had gone through narcissistic abuse. Millions of people have or currently going through abuse.
I am most proud of being consistent with my messages on YouTube. Every Wednesday at five, I am live and deliver a message to the Kingdom. I am happy for people to be delivered from the abuse that has taken a lifetime to deal with. After listening to one of my messages, I am so glad that a woman purchased a bible for the first time. I am on my healing journey after dealing with narcissistic abuse. During this time of healing, God has provided so much. I have become a realtor in the Houston area. I have grown in my faith walk and become a better person and husband.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best sources of new clients are social media and word of mouth. I believe taking social media seriously can provide growth for your business, especially if you are in sales of some sort. I have gained most of my clients from YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. Consistency is vital when you are trying to grow any business.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that everyone is not good. What I mean by that is that we try our best to look for the good in everyone, but by doing that, we miss the evil that can be lurking in those same people. By looking for goodness in everyone, we miss the bad that people can plot and plan against us. It is an excellent Idea to expect that people are who people are.
