We recently connected with Solomon Savoy and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Solomon , thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the biggest risks was starting my own business. Starting a business is something that I had never done before. I did not have anyone to go to to ask them about where to begin. I went to the only person that I knew could provide an answer and that is the Great I am God. Through God, I was able to come up with a business plan, logo, and motto, start a YouTube channel and become certified as a narcissist abuse recovery coach. Through God anything is possible and I firmly believe that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Once Covid took over in 2020, I knew that I wanted to tackle issues that I had seen in the workplace with management and other employees. I went back and forth with God on what to do. I had been applying for job after job. Receiving rejection letter after rejection letter. That is when it hit me about narcissist abuse in the workplace. I went back and forth with God and my wife on a name. Faith Base Work Place LLC (FBWP) was formed.
Narcissist abuse has gained popularity (not for good reasons) over the last several years because more people are realizing the evil narcissists bring to the table. We have to learn more than just the scientific portion of narcissistic abuse. I teach about narcissistic abuse from a biblical perspective. The Bible does not mention the word narcissists but there are many characters from the bible that have the traits.
One of my dreams came true when I was able to become a co-author with my wife and others of a book titled “Money Talks 2” Uncut Convos With Power Couples. That book has opened doors to other magazines and podcast shows. God never stops amazing me with blessings that come out of nowhere. I take what I do very seriously and want to help more men & women worth through trauma and alleviate the drama in their lives.
Real estate has opened new doors in the Houston area. I look forward to serving my new clients. Real estate has always been something that I wanted to pursue. Being a realtor and a narcissist abuse survivor is linked. People are going through divorces or running away from their abusive spouses and need somewhere to stay. My military service has prepared me for such a journey to wear different hats.
I am most proud of the growth that I have gone through as a man, husband, and Christ follower. My prayer life is on a whole other level at this point. I no longer do the short safe prayers and I have turned into a prayer warrior. I know the power of prayer now and it is because of the grace of God that I can teach others. Being a business owner, YouTuber, realtor, life coach, husband, father, author, and most of all a man of God.
I am also proud of the growth that is happening on YouTube. I have come a long way from the year 2020 until now. I started like anyone else with only two subscribers my wife and I were the two. Now at over three thousand subscribers and steady growing daily. It is nothing but God that people can relate to my story. I am now starting to see more men come out and tell their stories of narcissistic abuse in personal and professional relationships.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Building an audience on social media is no easy task. Everyone wants to tell you how to do it and the best time to post. To be honest I learned by trial and error but also learned about my audience. Once I started to be myself my audience started to grow. Trying to be someone that you are not can be the quickest way for your platforms not to grow.
Before I do anything, I take it to God to make sure I am doing things his way. My main tip is to be yourself and stay original with your content. Listen to your audience and they will tell you what they like and don’t like. Don’t try to keep up with the Jones. That is setting yourself up for failure from the get-go.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience is defined as the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties we may face. I look at resilience as the ability to keep going when you are told no over and over again. Someone might not believe in you but all it takes is one yes. I applied for over 400 hundred jobs during Covid. I received some rejection letters, I did some interviews, or I was ghosted by the company. Through it all, I keep my faith and stayed focused on God.
I never gave up on myself or my abilities but most of all my wife Shannon never faltered. Having a praying wife changes the outcome of any situation I had to go through. Being a praying couple catapulted our lives to another level. I am not talking about monetary gain but blessings from Yahweh.
