We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Solomon Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Solomon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I think the biggest risk I have taken has been choosing to become a full time photographer. I grew up in a household where my parents cared more about me finding a secure job than doing what I loved. I can’t blame them for that because they wanted to make sure that my sisters and I were prepared for our future, but I knew I wanted more out of life. I wanted to be happy with who I was and where I was heading.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Solomon Jones I started my photography journey in my 10th grade year of high school. I consider myself a multi faceted artist with many talents but photography is my first love. I’m self taught in photography and design and i’m continuing to gain knowledge in other creative avenues.
I focused on portrait photography for about 6 years then pushed my focus to capturing everyday life. I’m very proud of my progress in my editing. I’ve always tried to push the envelope when it comes to colors and the angles of my photos.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
My clients being happy with the finished product. Secondly being able to create what I want at anytime I want.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think word of mouth mostly. I’m a very bashful person meaning that I really don’t like talking much about myself which I feel like is a symptom of my ADHD I start thinking too much and I start to feel discouraged. I do believe that my work speaks for itself though, when people reach out to me they are very aware of what I can produce for them.
