We were lucky to catch up with Sole Bovelli recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sole, appreciate you joining us today. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?

I think timing is everything as an artist. I love artists who have had interesting and challenging journeys. It’s made me realize who I want to be and what I want to say to the world. I think that can only come through experience and hardship. Many of the challenges I experienced helped shaped what path I wanted to take and why. I’m glad I was able to experience a lot because it has influenced my work profoundly I think I needed to wait and find myself first. Our stories make us who we are.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I’m a Mexican-Italian-Hungarian actress based in London. I spent many years in Los Angeles and Mexico. I just finished studying at BADA’s Midsummer in Oxford program (affiliated with Yale School of Drama) and now I’m currently at LAMDA. I started out working on some short films and t.v. I recently wanted to expand my knowledge and craft. I was hungry to know more about classical training in the theater. I’ve fallen in love with Shakespeare, Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, Oscar Wilde and others and wanted to know more. I’ve been traveling a lot and have been trying to absorb and take in as much a possible.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

Yes! I recommend reading plays. It’s so enriching and opened my view on what acting is deeply.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding thing is being reminded of why I’m pursuing what I love. Focusing on things or stories that are bigger than myself and being seen for that even in little ways is everything to me. I think it’s easy to be put in a box as a female in this industry. It’s hard to stay grounded on your own individual path. Focusing on what really matters and holding on to that is the most rewarding thing of all.
