Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Solaris . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Solaris , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
This was such a challenging yet beautiful question to think about because typically we all either have really bad stories to tell about our childhood or really great stories but we never get asked the specific question of what exactly our parents did right. I would have to say that although my parents didn’t stay married for long both of them raised me to be a free thinker. My father raised me to be creative and to have an artistic eye for everything and my mother raised me to be spiritually In tune with myself and the world around me. They never limited me or put me in box they allowed me to be free and to change my mind about who and what I liked. My mother encouraged me to have free and open conversations with her without judgment which really has helped me with my work.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I go by Solaris the Hii priestess and I am a tarot/astrology reader/Teacher and now a children’s author of my astrology book Called “y.o.u”. I do readings here in Austin and also virtually all over the world. I have been reading Tarot and Astrology for over 7 years. To give you a little background on my work I have been brought out to do readings at various festivals such as MalaLuna, SXSW, ACL,and local music and art shows. I have also done events at different media platforms such as facebook, YouTube and space 24. I put on my own local events such as #TarotTuesday and also have a YouTube series for astrology and tarot.
My tarot sessions are another form of therapy. I create a space for people to vent without judgement. I personally refer to Tarot as metaphysical therapy because it merges spirituality and psychology together. It is not a thing that you should fear but something that should be embraced as another source of self care. The cards hold a lot of wisdom but they also are used as an icebreaker to help you relax and vent. Tarot cards mimic our journeys here on earth by showing you your free will and all of the possibilities that can happen. The cards may be pulled at random but the magic is how accurate the timing of each card can connect to your current situation. Tarot can only enhance and confirm the journey that you on, Of course obstacles can’t be avoided by doing tarot but it Can give you deeper insight as to why a situation is happening.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The power of being underestimated 🌪
We have all shared our goals and ideas with friends and family and had that feeling that they didn’t believe in you. I have struggled with situations like this for a while. It would make me feel defeated and hopeless. I remember before I quit my job as a pre school teacher I was at a breaking point. I would cry during my break and then I started crying in front of my students . I knew that there was something more that I could offer. Being a teacher was very fulfilling ,I loved working with children. Unfortunately when you work for a school you are limited on what you can do because you are following their themes and curriculum. I wanted to teach the kids about astrology and food. I started to dread going in, I was constantly having inner conflicts. I was teaching kids to follow their dreams and to be fearless but I wasn’t practicing what I was preaching . At the time I had no idea what i wanted to do and I felt like I didn’t have a purpose. I had no idea that my spirit was talking to me. It made it so hard for me to go to work because I was being called to do something else. I didn’t know what I was great at . My favorite thing to say was im good at everything but not a master at anything. I finally got tired of feeling pity for myself. I started finding self help videos. I got into the law of attraction then I found #abrahamhicks. She opened up a new world to me , she simplified things that seemed complicated. I started creating vision boards on my break at work. It felt so good to dream and to find my vision. A lot of times we lack vision so we just allow life to just happen. My coworkers started noticing that everyday instead of eating I was cutting out pictures and writing. My spirit took over me ,I replaced food with creating my vision. My co-workers thought I was losing it lol. I would get so excited to tell them I was gonna be in a magazine and that people were going to book me to speak and become a life coach. I already knew how to read tarot but I didn’t think about making it a career. This is where the doubt and hate came in because I was so excited to share my vision and a lot of them thought I was being ridiculous and unrealistic . I didn’t understand that they weren’t in my same frequency anymore and it intimidated them. So I learned to protect my energy and transform their doubt to fuel my fire. 3 months later I quit and I have been working for myself for going on 3 years !
Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
This is a every interesting question because there are somethings that I would go back a fix but I absolutely love doing readings and studying myself so that I can help others. Freedom takes discipline and after being self employed for 7 years I would say that I wish I would have found a mentor to help me. It’s hard to do everything by yourself but I wouldn’t change it.
