We recently connected with Sofie Rimler and have shared our conversation below.
Sofie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
For a long time, I wished I had started acting professionally sooner. After all, I had been acting my whole life—whether it was in my parent’s living room at 3, in the middle school production of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory (as Grandpa Joe) at age 12, or in college plays at 18. But I knew I had to take my time. An acting career is not something you rush into, and since I always loved entertainment, I wanted to take my time to explore every area of the business—from the casting side, to the post-production side, to the marketing side. Looking back, I’m grateful to have taken my time before ultimately deciding that nothing makes me as happy as being an actor and connecting to others through the performing arts!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hey there! My name is Sofie Rimler and I am an NYC/LA-based actor, voice actor, comedian, and host. I believe in the power of art to heal and bring people together. I have performed at New York Comedy Festival, Carolines on Broadway, The Laugh Factory, The Hollywood Improv, The Stand NYC, Dynasty Typewriter, The Comedy Chateau and Broadway Comedy Club, and recently hosted two comedy show fundraisers sponsored by OperationUSA to support Ukrainian relief efforts. Look out for me in the forthcoming comedy short, “Lumped Together” (Portland Comedy Film Festival Winner) and in a new pilot from Midnight Oil Animation.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My favorite thing about being an artist is working with other artists. There is nothing than makes me happier with collaborating with other like-minded creatives. Pretty sure it’s the same happy brain chemicals that go off when I see adorable small animals on the internet.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Follow artists on social media, donate to indie projects, and attend live shows! Become a patron of the arts – all the cool kids are doing it :)
