We recently connected with Sofia Fernandez and have shared our conversation below.
Sofia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think that failure is necessary to be successful. You need to fail and have the grit to be able to get up and try again. You’ll be told no many times, and instead of having an ego about it, you need to be able to determine what you did wrong and fix it. Keep trying to meet your goals, no matter how many obstacles you have.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a content creator and model based out of Austin, TX. My niche is lifestyle, so I mostly create content within the health, beauty, and wellness realms. I create content that my clients will love and that will resonate with Gen Z. I’m proud of how much I’ve grown as a content creator. Three years ago, when I first started content creation, I just picked up my camera and created content. Now I write scripts and plan out content, film content, use multiple different apps to edit content, and then plan when to post and what hashtags and music are trending the most. There is so much more that goes into content creation than just the cute influencer posts that the public sees online. I’m focusing on quality over quantity and making sure to post things that will provide entertainment and value to my clients and followers.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I originally started college in New York City at Parsons School of Design at The New School. It was my dream school, but it didn’t feel like the right fit for me once I was there. I was homesick and stressed out, and I didn’t feel like I fit in with the other students. I decided that I wanted more of a traditional college feel. I ended up transferring to the University of North Texas. It was bittersweet because a part of me felt as though I was making a mistake and that my future wouldn’t be the same without getting a degree from a prestigious school. It ended up being the perfect balance between school, work, and life for me. It made me realize that quality of life is most important and that there is still plenty of time for me to succeed in my career.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Definitely being consistent with social media and creating quality content. I’ve also noticed that I get the most inbound messages from brands when I’m posting collaborations on my social media. I also reach out to brands often too, just to increase my chances of getting collaborations. I would say the best way to get notoriety as a content creator is to just keep posting. You never know what’s going to go viral.
